Hello everyone. I wanted to talk about the places we visited the day before we left Rhodes. That day our plan was to head south to the point where two seas meet. We were very eager to see the meeting point of the Mediterranean and Aegean seas. While we had planned to visit some spots, we were flexible because traveling with a child comes with its own challenges.
We got ready at 8 am and after breakfast, we hit the road. On the way we stopped by a market. A friend had mentioned earlier that it might be hard to find kabanos here, but we were delighted to come across them in a supermarket.
If you plan to drive in Rhodes, you might find it a bit challenging as the speed limits are very low. 40 km/h or 60 km/h in most places. The roads are narrow, single-lane and often one-way. In a 2 hour drive, you barely cover 80 km. Our goal was to stay on that route and we had a two-hour journey ahead of us.
Our first stop was Lindos. Everyone was taking pictures of its breathtaking view. Lindos is an ancient town on the island of Rhodes, with a population of about 800. It’s a stunning and historic place, completely built in the traditional Greek style.
We needed to go down to explore, but driving further wasn’t possible because the roads in the town are very narrow. Instead of driving around, you have to walk or use alternative means. Since we were traveling with a child, we had to be cautious in some areas. Our main goal was to reach the town center and start exploring.
First we went to the beach by the village. It’s a beautiful beach. While we saw many lovely beaches in Rhodes this one left a particularly pleasant impression. Later we got back to our car and headed towards ancient Lindos. The town is perched on a hillside and its historical structures and magnificent views make it captivating.
Our aim was to explore the historic parts and reach the center of Lindos. Due to the narrow streets, we parked at a designated area and continued on foot.
Lindos was built in the 10th century bc and still has a population of about 800. It’s one of the oldest settlements on the island. The streets here are narrow and paved with stones, so cars are not allowed inside. People either walk or ride bicycles. There are parking areas available for vehicles, but driving into the village is impossible.
The streets are lined with white stones, creating a beautiful atmosphere. When we visited, it seemed to be bustling with tourists. It felt like stepping into an ancient settlement.
We also saw that donkey safaris were available here. Our daughter wanted to ride, so we joined the safari. The tour cost $16 per person. Our child loved it and we, as parents, were happy because she was so excited.
There was a queue to enter the Acropolis, so we decided not to go inside. Waiting there would have taken too long and we still had many places to visit on the southern side of the island.
When we got hungry, we took a lunch break. We ordered fresh fruit juices, lemon and orange for €2.50 each. Sitting with a view of the sea, we ordered penne pasta for our daughter and a simple salad for ourselves, as we wanted something light. The salad was absolutely delicious, with fresh and flavorful vegetables. We relaxed here for a while, soaking up the joy of being in Greece. Our daughter was so happy that she didn’t want to leave.
After Lindos we headed to another spot to see the meeting point of two seas. This area is very popular, especially among surfers and windsurfers. It’s an incredible place with strong winds, powerful waves and an extreme atmosphere. The contrasting sea experiences here are fascinating. Surfers flock to this region, but the winds are so strong that you can feel them hitting your legs and skin.
This place is called Prasonisi and it’s a unique location where the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas converge. Prasonisi is famous for its pristine sandy beaches, blue waters and stunning views. There are also many cafés and restaurants in the area. I highly recommend this place for families looking for a memorable vacation spot.
In the northern part of the island, we watched the sunset. Rhodes is a beautiful destination, but we’re already dreaming of visiting Greece again.this time to explore the mainland and other parts of the Aegean sea.
We had dinner here in the evening. I was served delicious prawns prepared with an amazing sauce and accompanied by boiled potatoes. Our daughter’s meal was mashed potatoes, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The food was fantastic.
The service was good and reflected a distinctly European style. While we didn’t always experience perfect service throughout our trip, this place stood out positively. In general service quality was decent, not extraordinary, but not poor either. Here our order took about 30 minutes to arrive, but the staff was friendly and tried their best to assist us.
They also offered us a complimentary dessert, which was a lovely gesture. It was something like panna cotta or a similar treat served after the meal. This thoughtful approach to customer care left a great impression on us.
Wow, it sounds like you had an amazing adventure in Rhodes! I love how you captured the excitement of exploring Lindos and the stunning views. The way you described the narrow streets and traditional Greek vibe really made me feel like I was there with you. And how cool that your daughter got to experience a donkey safari! That must have been such a fun memory for her.
