The winter season is a time of the year, usually from the end of December to the beginning of March where everywhere gets really cold. It usually comes between autumn and spring. And is often known as the coldest season of the year. In this season, the days becomes shorter and the nights longer. This season is mostly as a result of the earth tilting away from the sun.

The word "winter" is a German word meaning "time of water". During this season, one may experience some extreme weather conditions like heavy snow, freezing temperatures, ice accumulation, wind chill or even ice storms. Some plants and tree find it difficult to survive in the winter season. Most animals simply hibernate to escape the extreme cold weather.

I would definitely love that. Where I am from snow never falls. I don't even know how it feels like. I am only see it in the movies in other countries. So if I ever have the opportunity to go to a place where there is snow I will be delighted.

HOW SHOULD WE TAKE CARE OF OUR HEALTH DURING THE WINTER SEASON?

Some great ways we can take care of ourselves and stay healthy during the winter season includes;

The winter often comes with an air of dryness which can make our skin look shabby, cracked and dry. Applying a moisturizer is one way to take care of ourselves to avoid dry skin, chaped lips, cracked heels or a damaged skin. During this season, moisturizer creams should be a must have necessity for every individuals. Applying it regularly while staying hydrated is a perfect way to take care of ourselves during the winter season.

2. EXERCISING REGULARLY

During the coldest season of the year, it is Paramount to take your exercise routine very serious. Not only does exercising helps one stay warm and active but also helps fight against some diseases like the flu or cold etc. Engaging in an exercise fitness class is one way to keep fit and healthy during the winter.

3. EAT MORE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

Vegetable and fruits like oranges, spinach, carrots etc. are very high in antioxidants, fibers, minerals and vitamins which is very good for us especially in boosting our immune system against susceptible winter ailments. When we load ourselves with healthy fruits and vegetables, it becomes almost impossible to fall sick during the winter season.

4.GET ENOUGH REST:

Luckily for us, the winter comes with longer nights which will enable us get enough sleep and rest thereby getting rid of the stress hormone present in our body when we over stress ourselves.

5. MAINTAIN A GOOD HYGIENE

Goog hygiene practices is very beneficial especially during the winter season as it helps limit the spread of germs and bacteria during the period.

Despite the extreme cold that can arise during the winter, it is absolutely possible to look fashionable and stylish during the season.

Some tips to look fashionable in winter includes;

  • Opt for nice comfortable boots with warm fluffy socks to help you stay warm and keep the ice at bay

  • Add a belt to your oversized coat. It can make all the difference. Not only will it define you waist but also makes you look more stylish

  • Try out natural materials like wool and cashmere. They can be very fashionable while keeping one warm

  • Accessorize a little with your scarves or hats. Topping your overall dressing or look with a scarf or hat just makes it look more elegant and stylish. Plus it also helps protect your face or body from the dust or wind.

Fruits like grapes, pineapples and. Oranges and the rest of them plus vegetables like carrots, cabbages are really good during the winter and is popularly eaten during that period. It's effect in the body is just magnificent.
