A Serene Escape: Barbecue Adventure at Nilnag Lake

I hope you are doing well and enjoying your day. I wish you all good health, wealth, and a prosperous time ahead. Today, I’m here to share another moment of my life, and I hope you’ll find time to read it and that you’ll find it worthwhile.

For quite some time, my friends have been planning a trip to the famous blue water lake, located about 10 km from our village. We planned to prepare some barbecues on the banks of the lake, as we’ve done many times before. When I was invited on the trip, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to go due to my busy schedule. As an accountant at the returning officer’s office, I’ve been preparing for the assembly election on the 25th of this month. The election is a sensitive and exhausting assignment that must be completed within a month. Officials rarely get any leave and are often required to work on holidays.

Fortunately for me, after working late until 9 PM on a Sunday, I was given a day off on the following Monday. This allowed me to join my friends on the trip to Nilnag Lake.

On Sunday, after returning late from the office, I met my friends to make the necessary arrangements. We gathered items like meat, a barbecue grill, and other supplies. I took responsibility for buying the meat. After calling the butcher, who lives nearby, I was asked to bring the meat for overnight marination.

The next morning, I met my friends in the village market to finalize our departure time. They asked me to pick them up from a spot a bit away from the main market. When I returned with my car, my friends had already brought all the supplies to that spot to keep our trip discreet.

It was a fun time as we traveled to the lake. I was excited to visit the place again, as I hadn’t been there in over a month. I have a special attachment to the place since I’ve been posted in the village for over a year, and the lake holds a special place in my heart.

We settled on a highland where we could enjoy a full view of the lake while preparing the barbecue. It was quite a task to get the charcoal burning, but I eventually managed it. One of my friends took over and started roasting the meat.

While we were making the barbecue, we enjoyed ourselves by sharing jokes and teasing each other. We missed some friends who couldn’t join us this time, as they had been part of our previous trips.

It was a wonderful time, being in such a serene environment with the beauty of Nilnag Lake enhancing the experience. We spent the evening enjoying the barbecue, and for the first time, some of my friends claimed they had eaten enough! We even packed some food for the friends who couldn’t come. It wasn’t just the barbecue that made the day memorable; it was the time we spent together.

Later in the evening, when it became dark, we headed home. One of my friends, who owns a shop in the village, had to help his father close the shop, so I had to rush home a bit earlier.
