Dressing Up for Happiness: Moments with a Groom-to-be

Greetings, dear friends, how are you all? I hope you all are fine and enjoying your day. I wish for you all good health, wealth and a prosperous time ahead.

I’m so excited as one of my friends is going to get hitched in the next month and he would be the just second one among our friend circle to get married. As he is very close to me, he always needs me while he goes to shopping, and as I have a good choice of clothes, and I myself like to accompany my friends to help them look good in the parties and other functions. My friend had already told me to accompany him whenever he goes to shopping, and I never turn down his demands and always try to go with him, as probably, it would be our last time together as bachelors, and maybe he might get little chances to spend with his friends after he gets married, and for that purpose, I like to spend good time with him because we have been together since our childhood, and we have done all things together which are worthwhile to remember.

As the wedding date comes closer, requirements are also needed to fulfil before the actual date of marriage. As he is more focused upon to look good at his wedding and then in the post marriage functions, he meticulously chooses his dresses and as I have a good choice of clothing, I also help him to select good decent clothes. Today, I accompanied him to buy some clothes which he would wear in some important post marriage events.

In Kashmir, a groom hardly wears a suit on the wedding day, but wear traditional gown called sherwani which is more like a long coat, decorated with some embroidery and other arts, which enhance groom‘s look. After the wedding is over some long-lasting post marriage events start in which a groom usually prefers to wear Kurta pyjama‘s or more commonly khan dresses which are famous in this part of the world. These dresses are always eye-catching and need to be meticulously chosen because everyone’s eye remains on the groom in such events.

Today was quite a busy day with my friend as he had to buy some Kurta pyjama‘s, and a suit for which we had to visit our capital city Srinagar through the scorching heat of sun. It was at around 2 PM, when we decided to leave as we could anticipate lowering in temperature in the late hours of the day, but to our surprise it was quite hot in Srinagar and we could get no relief from the heat even while we were back home late evening. We visited the core of the Srinagar city and went to a very famous Dua collection store for some Kurta pyjama‘s, and then upon finishing our shopping there, we went to , the famous city mall to select some dresses from different brands. We went to famous Gulal Sahab for a suit and I was quite attracted by the stuff they had put to showcase and the workers working inside the store where very humble and helped us to choose one of the finest fabric suit.

I was quite tired by going from one counter to another. My friend had chosen white coloured Suit which looked to be heavy and bulky and would make him quite uncomfortable. I suggested a different one and my friend looked happy and satisfied with the quality and the comfort level that suit possessed. I was quite satisfied with his looks and so was my friend. Now I am eagerly waiting for him to wear that suit after the marriage, and I would definitely be waiting for the review he would get from his relatives.

I enjoyed my time with my friend and later, while we were back towards our place, we went to a restaurant to have some food together as we were famished by going from one shop to another through the scorching heat of the sun. I was quite late to reach back home. I do not regret such a decision of spending such time with one of my friends who is just getting married as the thing of accompanying him to buy such things not only give me a new experience but also helps me to understand what is important for a wedding and what is not.
