Today I’m so excited to be a part of this contest as it would be my first in a long time now because I have been very busy with the official work that I had been assigned by the higher authorities. I was waiting for a contest in my favourite community and today I couldn’t stop myself from taking part In it by writing about communication skills and their importance. I am hopeful that I will be able to draw your attention and would be able to garner your valuable votes.

Do you agree with the statement “Communication skill is the power”? Why or why not?

Communication skills are one of the most powerful tools a man can ever have. They enable individuals to express themselves easily and effectively. To convey ideas effectively, build relationships, resolve conflicts, and inspire others communication skills play a significant role. In a personal context, communication skills help build strong relations and in professional contexts, strong communication enhances understanding and cooperation, leading to better output. For example, leaders who communicate clearly and persuasively can gather people around a vision and can instil motivation and a goal-oriented spirit in them.

Can you provide an example of a situation where “Communication skill is the power”?

In today’s professional life as I have been in one for a couple of years now I have experienced and felt the importance of communication skills very closely and the impact of better communication skills in the growth of the organisation. As I have been working in the Rural development department, we usually come across correspondences both from people as well as from our higher ones. It’s easy to understand and to convey messages and information and to minimise confusion when the communication skills are good and the exact opposite happens when bad communication skills come into play.
Here I can quote an example of the office I work in as various projects we execute come with different challenges. Our boss has a very active role in clarifying goals and motivating the officials to undertake various projects which are directly related to the development of the common man. These projects can only be executed in a very efficient way when our boss has good communication skills, has the quality of listening actively to the team's concerns, clarifying goals clearly and motivating the team to collaborate effectively. Such qualities of a team leader help teams to overcome challenges and obstacles and result in successful project completion.

Some historical examples where “Communication skill is the power” led to significant change?

I usually read about the historical events that have occurred in the past and have had a major impact on shaping the modern world and giving it shape which resulted in the development we have had over the years. Some of the great leaders and revolutionaries from the past Like Martin Luther King Junior, Mahatma Gandhi, and Nelson Mandela used powerful communication to gather and sensitise people about various movements which later inspired millions and brought a significant change in every aspect of human life. It was only because of their powerful communication skills that they could mobilise people and bring changes in social and economic life and if it was possible without having any communication skills these people could not have got a place in any of the history books till now.

How can one improve their communication skills?

Improving communication skills involves several strategies:

1. Active Listening: To hone one's communication skills, one must be an active listener must always engage wholly in conversations and must try to understand others. Active listening is a basic and primary attribute towards better communication skills.

2. Develop Empathy: One must be patient enough to listen and understand other’s perspectives to communicate more effectively. To understand others is a quality and one must always try to build this quality to be better at communicating effectively and efficiently.

3. Body Language: Body language being a very important part of communication skills has a very significant role in making things easy to understand and to convey messages. It’s a skill where we use nonverbal signals deliberately to support unwritten messages and it has a huge role in enhancing one’s communication skills.

4.Feedback: One must be able to receive and bare whatever comes as a feedback. As feedbacks helps one to improve in the fields where any sort of improvement is needed, and one must always be ready to seek and apply constructive feedback to improve communication techniques.

5.Continuous Learning: In the dynamics of life, learning is also a continuous process and in this process of learning one must never stop taking in different experiences and skills. Learning comes in with different processes like reading and learning from skilled communicators to enhance skills over time.

By taking the above points seriously and giving them a greater importance in one’s life can help one to improve his communication skills. Enhancing communication skills helps one not only in conveying his messages easily ,effectively and efficiently but also helps others to understand, perceive and accomplish their tasks easily. In fact, better communication skills, make one’s life easy, both professionally as well as personally.
