Steem power can be gotten as a curation reward for upvoting posts from members and the higher the steem power the higher the reward.

To be eligible to participate in this contest, I had pended claiming my reward for some days so that I will have enough to power up.

As a member of @club5050, I powerup half of my steem each time I claim a reward. From my last power up, I had 21.713 steem balance left.
This week, I claimed a reward of 48.349 steem and I'll power up half of that.

Steps:

• I sign in to my steemit wallet with my private active key to claim the reward. And my steem balance increased to 70.062 steemit.

• Next I calculated for half of 48.349 steem and I got the value to be approximately 24.20 so I clicked on the down arrow sign beside the steem balance,and clicked power up.

• Then I had to confirm the process by clicking OK.

• After the process, it converted the 24.20 steem to steem power.

• Then my steem power increased from 116.013 steem power to 140.213 steem power. And my steem balance dropped to 45.862 steem.

That is how I did my powerup.

Write the importance of performing powerup.

Powerup allows the user to have control on post payouts and earn curation rewards.

Currently my vote do not have alot of power when making an upvote but consistent powerup will grow my steem power to make a tangible upvote in post I find interesting.
Post I upvote will have have value not just adding to the number.
I'll also be able to delegate steem power when necessary.
I'll also become eligible to handle responsibilities on the platform.
