Tell us how your favorite subject made learning effortless for you |

During my high school years, my favorite subject was "Igbo Language. The Igbo language, popularly known as "Asusu Igbo" is a general language spoken by Igbo people in the southern eastern part of Nigeria. Since we have over 31 million speakers of this language, the school deems it necessary to teach more about this language in the schools. Although we love cultures, our language is one of them.
My mom uses this language for me and my siblings at home even before we start schooling, so it was so easy and fluent for me even while in high school. The learning became effortless because, from the root, this language had been taught, and I never had low grades.
Every day I return from school, my mom asks what I learned, and if Igbo was part of it, she will teach me more, and I will learn more. This subject helped my learning in high school.
Did you always manage to get good marks in your favorite subject, or did you face any hardship at any particular time? |
---|
Oh yes! I did. I even helped others during examinations because I was seen as the lord in the Igbo language. There was no day I encountered hardship in this subject. It was all so easy and sweet for me.

My favorite subject was never difficult for me since it was a daily language I spoke and heard. I also bring in my knowledge from the one I learned at home to school because I love being the best at my favorite subject.
Are there any other subjects that you like too? |
---|
Yes! I loved the English language, home economics, government and business studies. These were the subjects that give me peace of mind each time I attend the class. I never had low grades in them.
The English language is a general language that even the lame can understand, but there is more to this subject than usual. This subject became my favorite when a new teacher was introduced to us.
Home economics had been taught to me by my mom in the early days, so I didn't find it difficult to understand it in school. The subject is attached to my everyday life, so it was easy.
Government was also my favorite because my dad taught me so much about this subject. He loves current affairs, and so he related it to us, his children. With that, I enjoyed the subject easily.
I got interested in business studies because of the teacher involved. He was such a nice man; he teaches us with fatherly love, and I never saw this subject as difficult.

Do you help your children or siblings in their favorite subjects? |
---|
Yes, I do. I help my son with his favorite subject. Discovering his favorite subject made it easier; in fact, most times, he would not ask for my assistance; he would do it on his own and then bring it for assessment.
His favorite subject is mathematics, and he is very good at it and very fast when solving his take-home notes.
Finally, is there any role of your favorite subject in your present-day life? |
---|
Yes, there are several roles my favorite subject plays in my daily life.
• It plays a communication role: Since I reside in the eastern part of Nigeria, we commonly use the Igbo language to communicate fluently with friends, customers, colleagues, taxi drivers, family, and others.
• Access to run a business effectively: I use Igbo language to advertise my product or my business. For instance, when we started the Steemit road show, I and my team went out on the street to advertise Steemit and to speak to people. I usually use Igbo language to make them understand better, and during one of our radio advertisements, I spoke to the audience in Igbo because they understood better.

It seems like everyone would love to speak English, I'm so sorry that I neglected it at school. And now I really have difficulty speaking English.
