This port is in response to @dove11's contest: https://steemit.com/hive-179660/@dove11/contest-i-was-passing-by-the-lake. I wanted to enter the contest since the topic is both interesting and imaginative.
On my way home from work, I was passing by the lake when I noticed a image or a shadow. On the bank, it was a figure standing, but it was too far away to make out properly. I narrowed my vision in an effort to get a good look. The person wearing the long black frock was tall and lean, I assumed that it was a female.
The figure appeared to be moving, and the coat was flying through the air. But it was difficult to know for sure. I stood there for a long debating whether or not to approach. I was around 50 feet from the lake when I heard the roar. a sound like a whisper. But that was sufficient to make my heart race.
My chest was thumping as I froze. I paid close attention, but I was unable to pick up anything else. Maybe it was all in my head.I inhaled deeply before stepping out in the direction of the lake. I continued to watch the figure, but it didn't budge. It didn't move; it simply stood stationary.
I could see that the figure was a woman as I drew nearer. She had long, black hair and was tall and slim. Her face was obscured by a long black fabric that she was wearing.
I came to a stop a short distance from her. "Hello?" I said. "Can I be of any help to you?"
The woman remained motionless and silent. She did nothing but fix her black eyes on me. I backed up a step. The question "Who are you?" I queried. I asked, "What are you doing here?"
Still, the woman remained silent. She did nothing but stare at me. I began to experience fear. I wanted to flee, but I was too terrified to do so.
Suddenly, the woman spoke. Her voice was soft and hoarse, like the wind blowing through leaves. "I've been waiting for you," she said. I didn't know what to say. I just stood there, frozen in fear.
The woman took a step towards me. "I need your help," she said. "There's something wrong with me." I didn't know if I should believe her. But I was also curious. "What's wrong?" I asked.
The woman reached out and touched my arm. Her hand was cold and clammy. "I'm dying," she said. "I need you to help me find a way to live."
I recoiled from her touch. "I don't know what to do," I said. The woman smiled, but it wasn't a friendly smile. It was a cruel smile, like the smile of a predator. "You'll figure it out," she said. "I know you will."
She smiled and came very close to me and held my hands and my hand hurt and my nerves started to fray. Then I realized that something bad was going to happen, then I felt a log behind me, immediately, I bent down to pick it up, her voice stopped and when I returned to pick up the log, I didn't see her as she disappeared.
I stood there for a few minutes, trying to make sense of what had just happened. But I couldn't. I didn't know what to think. I was really scared and wanted to get out of here before something else happened. I turned and walked away from the lake. I didn't stop running until I was safe inside my house. I locked the door and went to the window. I looked out at the lake, but the woman was really gone.
But soon I heard a as huge sound "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR", However, a long bell rung... near my window.
Oh no! It was my alarm clock, time to wake up, another interesting dream!
I am inviting @deepak94, @parineeta, @kyrie1234 to take part in this useful contest.
