Magnetic Hill in Ladakh is located 30 km from Leh, India, on the Leh-Kargil-Srinagar highway. Located 14,000 feet above sea level, it is a mysterious place where the laws of gravity do not apply. It is a short stretch of road where a magnetic hill pulls stationary vehicles upwards due to its gravitational phenomenon. There are many theories about Magnetic Hill. When you reach the place, a roadside sign invites you to park your car in a white square. Vehicles standing on this road are attracted upwards. A car rolls down this hill at a speed of 20 km/h when the engine is switched off. Due to this unknown reasion and mysterious , the mountain called as many names such as 'Mystery Hill' and 'Gravity Hill'. The famous river Indus flows on the eastern side of this mountain.

Locals living in Ladakh believe that 'Magnetic Hill' is straight to heaven' and they believe that once upon a time there was a road leading people to heaven. The deserving are automatically drawn there, whereas the unworthy never find their way.

The theory states that there is a strong magnetic force near the mountain that pulls vehicles within its reach. Tourist and achiologists from all over the world have experienced to the strange magnetism of the highway of Leh and given their testimonials. In fact, the magnetic force is so strong that the magnetic effect is seen not only in road vehicles, but also in airplanes and helicopters. Pilots must increase altitude when crossing a mountain. Interestingly, a similar phenomenon can be seen in the Kala Dungar Hills of Bhuj.

July to September is the best time to visit Ladakh Magnetic Hill. During this time the roads are clear and the weather is perfect to explore Ladakh and its beauty. Officials have put up a billboard in the area indicating the exact spot where the magnetic phenomenon can be seen. Apart from him, the yellow box marked on the road indicates the exact point where the car should be stopped in neutral. From this point, you can see a gentle climb up the hill.
