For more than two months of IPL season 16, all league and play-off matches were completed, leaving only the final match. The defending champions, Gujarat Titans, faced up against Chennai Super Kings, who have been to the play-offs 12 times and reached the final 10 times in 14 seasons. MS Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, won the toss and chose to bowl first.

The match was supposed to be played last Sunday, but due to rain, the match was postponed and played only yesterday. The match started with great anticipation and cheers from the fans and it was very good

In the Gujarat Titans team who came out first to bat, opener Wriddhiman Saha scored 54 runs in 39 balls, Shubman Gill added 39 runs in 20 runs, unexpectedly Sai Sudarshan hit 96 runs in only 47 balls, captain Hardik Pandya added 21 runs in just 12 balls, all played aggressively and accumulated runs. Thus, the Gujarat team accumulated 214/4 runs at the end of 20 overs and set target 215 runs to CSK.

After playing 4 balls rain started showering , game stopped for a few hours, then they reduse the overs and scores as
Dhoni's team were entered to bat with the target runs of 171 runs in 15 overs as the overs reduced due to rain interruption. CSK openers Ruduraj scored 26 runs in 16 balls and Devon Conway played well and added 47 runs in 25 balls both played aggressively and were dismissed in Noor Ahmed's overs. Following this, Rahane also did not perform well on 27 runs in 13 balls.

Finally, Ambathi Rayudu went wild as he scoring 19 runs in 8 innings to restore the thrill of the match. Mohit then removed Dhoni with the very next ball and gave a bis disappoint to his fans . In the end, 21 runs from 12 balls were necessary. Shami then gave up only 8 runs.

In the end 13 runs were needed to win from 6 balls. Then Mohit Sharma bowled the first 4 balls as yorkers and conceded 3 runs as 10 runs required only in 2 balls, the match went to GT side. But next ball, Raveendra Jadeja hits the huge six. An then 4 runs needed off the last ball, the whole stadium become silent and thrilled, Jadeja took his responsibility as he wan in the position do or die. Then, Jadeja hit a boundary. Thus, CSK scored 171/5 in 15 overs match and become the champions of IPL 2023 .
