This my participation to the Engagement challenge conducted by #HindWhale community. It beautiful and essential topic that needs to discussed by everyone to save the soil. Thanks for organizing this great topic.

Plant trees

The first and foremost thing to save soil is to plant trees. Nature having the capability to heal the Earth by itself. Just we should help or allow nature to rebuild naturally. Planting trees helps nature to protect the soil and other resources.

Nature itself having the capability to plant 🌲 trees by the help of insects, birds 🐦, animal, etc. In those days there are lots of empty lands available where 🌲 trees automatically grown by nature. But now, due to population development more lands are occupied. So we need to help nature by planting trees in the free space available near our homes.

Avoid plastic

Plastic is the main enemy of the soil. Because plastic is a non biodegradable material which takes many decades to decompose. Due to non biodegradable property, waste plastic thrown by us deposit in the soil and it does not allow rainwater to reach ground water. If it is burned then it produces a lot of harmful pollution. Dumping plastic in soil affects the quality of the soil and makes it infertile.

Most of the government is imposing ban on using Polythene bags and plastic products. But we should have the awareness about the disadvantage of using plastic and avoid using it. There are lot of alternatives available for plastics we can use it to save the soil.

Segregate waste

Normally we have a dustbin in our home where we store our waste and then we move it to public bin. In public bin both the bio degradable and non biodegradable waste are mixed. Mixed Non biodegradable waste makes the biodegradable waste takes longer time to degrade. So from the primary level (home) itself we need to segregate the waste into biodegradable and non biodegradable and move to proper common bin.

Make it easier for government to proper treatment of the waste. Segregation of waste saves the soil from non biodegradable waste.

Try to reduce E- waste

In the modernization of the world, peoples mindset changes very fastly. Peoples are attracted by new things very easily. If a person buys a Smartphone next month itself that company release another phone with upgraded specifications. So people mindset easily change to buy the new phone.

So the life of electronic components are not utilised. New product make old product as waste even it is in good condition. Most of them buy new products because of offers, discounts, festival sale, etc. It's all trap to indirectly force you to buy. So don't buy new things without need of the product. If the product have useful need to you and your family then buy. Don't just buy for good offer, discounts even it is not useful to you.
So these E-Waste make more soil pollution. Think about it before buying new things.

Usage of non biodegradable

Usage of Non biodegradable products increase in our day to day life. These non biodegradable products are dumped in the soil. Due to its non biodegradable property it takes many 100 or 1000 years to degrade. So these products accumulate in soil and make it polluted. Try to buy only useful products. There are lot of alternatives available in market which we can use to save the Earth.

Agricultural crops rotation

Continuous cultivation of same crops can reduce the mineral content in the soil. So the farmers can rotate the crops between the season to get good yeild and also the minerals of the soil enriched by crop rotation. Take advice from Agricultural Engineer and plant alternative crops which gives good yeild on your agricultural land.

Avoid chemical pesticides

Chemical pesticides may give a short term remedy for increased yeild but in future chemical fertilizers affect the soil and ground water and make the land infertile and reduce the good minerals, bacteria in soil. It may also cause a serious problem in future. So try to use natural pesticides. It will give good yeild. You can sell your products with good profit in Organic markets. Consumers also looking for Organic foods.

Earth is not only for us. It is common to all. Save the Earth and give non polluted Earth to your son and Daughters.
