Greetings dear and welcome once again to my blog today. I'm delighted to be part of those sharing their entry in this contest organised by @senehasa which says Pick a Word, Paint a Story and the words we are looking at this week are RIVER, RAIN, and MOON. I will be basing my discussion on RIVER so read through and see my entry.
In my community, there is a river we call Agbazin-aku and this is the only river that doesn't get dried even in the dry season. It is named after a certain king who was referred to a man after the heart of the gods.
The story of Agbazin-aku as a kid was told to many because of his influence in the community and the river that was named after him. It all started when the child king was born by the river side alone with his mother.
Story has it that when the mother was in serious labour close to the river where she went to wash her clothes, there was no one there to assist her deliver and when she was almost at the point of death, some strange beings came out from the water and assisted her to deliver the child.
In appreciation for the kind gesture she pleaded with them to name her child and they said to her that her child will be great and because he is a man after their heart he must be called Agbazin-aku. It was a strange name to the community but the mother knowing her encounter insisted that that is what her son must be called.
When the child grow up, a great calamity loom the community and that made all the rivers dry up and the only hope they had was the Agbazin-aku river which from the onset never get dried but to their surprise it also went dried.
Seeing this, the consulted the highest priest who told them that the only solution they have is to plead with Agbazin-aku to talk to the river named after him and also to assend the thrown of the community before the issues can be averted.
The people did exactly as instructed and immediately the river restored and after crowning Agbazin-aku he also declared that every other river should flow and immediately it happened. This is the story of how the river of my community came about.
Finally, I wish to invite my friends @dove11, @solaymann, and @josepha to also join this contest today and share their own opinions about this wonderful topic.
