High school, ah, those were the days when life was a mixtape of awkward moments, teenage drama, and homework galore. But in the midst of all that chaos, English was my shining star. It was like the Beyoncé of my academic lineup – versatile, captivating, and sometimes prone to dramatic flare-ups (looking at you, Shakespeare).
My love affair with English began when I realized that this language wasn't just about the ABCs; it was about uncovering the secrets of storytelling, diving headfirst into the deep pool of literature, and finding my own unique voice amidst the cacophony of teenage rebellion and cafeteria food fights. While others were sweating over math equations, I was getting lost in the world of words, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride.
Did you always manage to get good marks in your favorite subject, or did you face any hardship at any particular time?

Did I always ace English class? Not always. I alternated between shrieking with joy in the front seat and clutching onto my seat, wondering how I'd live. You know what? The ups and downs made the ride more exciting.
Are there any other subjects that you like too?

Speaking of other subjects, I did have a soft spot for physics and chemistry – call me a closet nerd. However, math was like the Godzilla of my academic life. It felt like an intense battle, me against the numbers, and I'm pretty sure the numbers won most of the time. It's all fun and games now, but back then, I saw math as a formidable foe that haunted my dreams of academic success.
Do you help your children or siblings in their favorite subjects?

Now, as an adult, I'm a mother of a three years old daughter. I've started teaching her English. Obviously not by force. Through gentle guidance and educational engagement, we can introduce her to the realm of language, acquainting her with the vocabulary of fruits and animals. Witnessing the enchantment in her eyes as she discovers the power of words will be truly remarkable. It's like witnessing a mini-me embark on her own literary adventure.
Finally, is there any role of your favorite subject in your present-day life?

English didn't just leave me with fond memories; it left a mark on my present-day life. It gave me the superpower of communication – whether I'm nailing presentations, chatting up a storm at social gatherings, or crafting messages to my cat (yes, I have a cat, and yes, we chat).
It also unveiled my talent for writing. Thanks to my deep appreciation for English, I realized I could weave words like a wizard weaving spells. While I can't say for sure whether the world agrees with my writing prowess, I believe I can charm readers and express myself effectively. Writing went from a scholastic assignment to a creative release. Shakespeare may have wondered "to be or not to be," but I wonder "to write or not to write."
In conclusion, my high school days were like a Shakespearean play with English as the star actor. It wasn't just about chasing grades; it was about chasing the love of the language, mastering the art of communication, and discovering the joy of writing. English is still my trusty sidekick in this crazy journey called life, and I can't wait to sprinkle its magic on future generations. Cheers to the beauty of words, the chaos of high school, and the quirks of life!

English is a language that I want to master, when I was in high school I always tried to memorize the vocabulary, but my tongue had difficulty pronouncing the words, and now I really regret not being able to speak English.

Thank God, I didn't have to study Shakespeare during high school otherwise I would have dropped dead or dropped out before completing high school. Nice write up 👍

Hahaha .. yes for many, Shakespeare may seem boring and melodramatic, but to me, the love of “Romeo and Juliet,”and “Elizabeth and Darcy “and others is the embodiment of emotion and a reflection of the 'Way of the world’ of my younger age. Nothing can beat the enjoyment of Shakespearean literature.
