What are the most popular occupations in your country?

In Pakistan, there are numerous popular professions. I think a majority work in agriculture, as our nation is primarily agricultural. In rural areas, nearly 90% of the people work in fields or forests. This work is hard and tiring, but many don't have other employment options. They're often poor, and even their children help out from a young age.

In cities, many work in factories and workshops. Particularly, the largest employment sector is in textile mills where they produce clothes and silk items. Many of the less affluent drive taxis or rickshaws in urban areas, and life can be quite tough for them.

Those in the middle class often become school teachers, bank officers, doctors, or engineers. They're usually well-educated and financially stable, leading comfortable lives and providing good education for their kids.

The upper-middle class and wealthy people are either involved in business or politics, often holding influential government positions. These individuals earn a lot, live luxuriously, and even employ servants. We often refer to them as the "elite class", with a lifestyle quite regal in nature.

Do you believe that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be beneficial or problematic for the job market?

There's a lot of chatter about AI nowadays. While some argue it'll cost jobs, I believe AI will pave the way for new and better opportunities.

For starters, AI can only handle so much. Humans will always handle complex tasks. AI might take over simple, repetitive tasks like customer service or data entry. Sure, humans can perform these, but the possibility of errors persists, whereas AI systems are designed for speed and precision.

We should remember that with every advancement, new opportunities arise. Just as mobile phones led to new jobs in app and software development, AI will create jobs in tech and computer sectors to understand and train it. There's no real threat of unemployment here.

Regarding the quality of jobs, AI can't replicate human creativity. It can analyse and process data but can't replace humans in creative roles like marketing, teaching, or medical fields. Emotional and creative tasks will always be human territory.

All in all, progress is a good thing. As the world moves forward, we must too. The youth can learn about AI, enhancing their skills and employability. Challenges are inevitable, but we shouldn't fear them.

I believe AI will boost the job market. Although it might disrupt mechanical roles like logistics and customer service, on the whole, better job opportunities will emerge. All we need is to stay updated and embrace new technology. By properly utilising AI, we can enhance our skills and the quality of our services.

What strategies can be implemented to curb the rising unemployment rates?

Unemployment is a significant issue in Pakistan, and we need robust strategies to tackle it.

Firstly, our education system needs an overhaul. What's taught is often disconnected from real-life skills. Graduates frequently aren't job-ready. Schools and colleges should offer practical education, like computer skills, marketing, or finance.

Secondly, we should introduce new courses in burgeoning sectors like healthcare and hospitality. Tourism, if given the right focus, can flourish. These sectors currently face a shortage of trained staff.

Thirdly, the government should support new startups with funding, tax breaks, and incentives. Startups often create innovative job roles that are perfect for the youth, and fostering an entrepreneurial culture is crucial.

Fourthly, private firms should be directed to initiate apprenticeship and on-job training programmes. By offering graduates practical experience, their employability will soar, benefiting the companies too.

Lastly, more emphasis should be placed on infrastructure and construction projects to provide manual labour jobs, like roads and housing schemes.

These strategies can help alleviate unemployment. Rising joblessness can lead to increased crime, so addressing this is essential. With the right reforms, our talented youth can have ample opportunities to shape their future.
