TURKEY IS STILL BURNING - We only have one Earth!

Hi Dear Friends,

I feel so sad. There are huge and extensive forest fires in Turkey. The forest fires continue on the turquoise coast and mountains for 7 days. It started in Manavgat which is a district of Antalya in the South of Turkey. I live in this beautiful town. Manavgat has many green fields and it is covered by forests so this fire turned into a very harmful disaster in a short time. Many villages of Manavgat were destroyed by fire. Also, there are fires in the South and West of Turkey. The provinces are Adana, Mersin, Muğla (Marmaris), Isparta, Denizli... There are villagers, their houses, farming areas, farm animals, wild animals, unfortunately, all of them are damaged by the huge forest fires.

A total of 144 forest fires broke out in many provinces of Turkey. Some of them were brought under control. The flames reach heights exceeding 20 meters at times. It is like hell. This beautiful nature is disappearing, animals are dying, houses are burning. We are suffering. Firefighters work very hard. Volunteers, villagers, farmers are also doing their best but these are not enough to stop these fires. It is needed fire planes because vehicles cannot enter the rough terrain, the fire must be stopped from the air.

We have helicopters but the fire fighting aircraft are not enough in Turkey so we need fire fighting planes from all countries who can help us. We are destroyed with the total 144 fires. Some of them are still getting stronger because of the hot air and wind. 2 firefighters and 5 people died in these fires.

Turkey chartered three Russian fire planes. Azerbaijan sent a firefighting team with 220 personnel with 53 fire trucks. Ukraine sent two An-32P type firefighting aircraft.

The fire is so big that more planes are needed. Because it is impossible to extinguish fires in many regions without aircraft.

Social media users are asking for help from Turkey with their posts about the fires in the Aegean and the Mediterranean. With the hashtag 'Global Call' and #helpturkey hashtag on Instagram and Twitter, it was aimed to draw attention to the ongoing forest fires in the Aegean and Mediterranean. This topic has become the most talked about hashtag in the world on Twitter. We tag the accounts of supranational institutions such as the United Nations and the European Union.

Spain and Croatia from the European Union sent 3 Canadair firefighter planes to Turkey, today.

The fires still continue. You can share this issue on your social media to help nature. This planet is all of us. Every burning tree takes our breath away.

I am hesitant to reply to this post. I am the type of man who would "do" and not the kind who would "feel." If a person is grieving, I might hold them and pat them on the shoulder, but I tend to separate my emotions.

While the fires in Turkey are emotion-charged, I only care that you are safe. Beyond that, is there a charity that you know about that you want to send donations to? If so, I will attempt to draw people to this post to help increase your earnings. I will do so anyway, but perhaps others can be influenced to increase your rewards.

Your sensitivity on this matter made me very happy. There is a need for many things, the need for food and clothing has been largely met. Now, firstly, we need fire extinguishers. Associations and non-governmental organizations have been organized. We support them both financially and voluntarily. The greatest need is to make our voices heard in the world for firefighting planes because the fire still continues in many places.

I want to give you a little additional perspective regarding the responsibilities that your country needs to consider in the future. Instead of collecting carbon taxes to reduce carbon, governments need to enact protocols to deal with changes in the climate. The Earth's protective magnetic shield is weakening (almost by 25%), so we can expect more lightning strikes in the future.

When you consider that Canada has a population of thirty-eight million and Turkey has eighty-four million, the Turkish government has more challenges that it needs to meet.

Each year, [In Canada], ..., about 7,300 forest fires have occur[s]. The total area burned varies widely from year to year but averages about 2.5 million hectares annually...
Fire suppression costs over the last decade in Canada have ranged from about $800 million to $1.5 billion a year.

The fires may end up running their course (if planes are unavailable), but in the future, people may need to advocate for the Turkish government to put more in its budget for environmental hazards.

Yes, you are right. The governments have to increase their environmental budget. This s not a luxury it is a necessity.

I am not sure if I have time to solve all the world's problems. It is possible that there doesn't need to be an increase in budgets. One of the mandates of the Canadian military has to do with disaster relief. Canada has a quarter of the military "staff" of Turkey. In addition to dealing with domestic disasters, Canada has a program that can be accessed by other countries.

Maybe instead of only learning how to drop bombs, some of the pilots need to learn how to drop water balloons.

This idea is super productive. Undoubtedly that, it contributes greatly to disaster recovery if the air force pilots receive education about dropping water bombs. Canada's program looks very helpful to those who need help, btw. Thank you for sharing your opinions 🤗

Unfortunately, we are responsible for such situations. We should not destroy our mother earth for our greed.

I completely agree with you. We need nature to be exist but it doesn't need us to be exist. We don't wanna know this truth.
