Contest: My memories picnic with family/ friend.

in hive-180106 •  last year
We used to go on picnics every year in winters with family before covid. After covid we don't go out religiously like before. But have been to many memorable picnics with my family.

Your favorite spot for picnic in your city?

I live in one of the small cities of Punjab. There are no picnic spots besides parks and canals.

Spending time in parks with your family for a few hours is fine but definitely a big NO for picnics(due to privacy issues).

Another spot could be canals, but again a big NO for privacy issues.

Picnic is supposed to last for a day, where you can cook food with your family, and take as many pictures as you want.

So, we choose our farmlands in a countryside for picnic. We go there in winters, spend all day there gatheing woods and cooking food.

Share your memorable Picnic with family or friends?

In winters, we decided to go on a picnic on a holiday. We agreed to take the food items with us but to cook them on coal there.

Menu was barbecue and Pakoray. Some people were vegetarian(like me) , so pakoras were added in the menu for them.

We left at 11am roughly, found the place little messy on reaching there, so cleaned it with a broom first.

We started roaming in the fields and took many pictures. All of the family members had not reached yet. Our plan was to start cooking on their arrival.

When they reached, we gathered woods and fuel to lit fire to fry pakoras. Litting fire in winters is fun itself.

Then we started frying them in oil, while preparations for barbecue were happening simultaneously.
I took out the stove for barbecue along with my cousin.

We used ready made coals for fire, chicken was already marinated. Chefs from my family started getting barbecue sticks ready.

They took care of everythink related to barbecue. Rest of the family ate it with Naans.

After eating we sat down on the floor mat for a while and drank our tea. Which we had brought with us.

Next, we all went inside the fields of peas and potatoes. We hand picked the vegetables, it was not our first time, but a family of my cousin's had their first experience.

Me and my cousins had done this before in our childhood. We used to come on and off and see helpers doing their job. For a couple of time we also had became helpers and picked pea and potatoes and made its French fries there.

Do you like outings And who do you like to go with? Friends or family?

Family over friends for picnics for sure.

With friends outings in a restaurant or college is fine. With family you can do everything without any restriction, especially in the case of the girls.

However, if you have cousins of your age, you would enjoy as much as you do with your friends.

On our picnics with family, we ride a bicycle and eat sugarcane. We lit fire and drink our tea. We play ludo and cricket.

We spent our whole day and returned home after 5pm.
