Dear cherished stemian! I wish every one of my friends is doing great and keeping safe. I want to express to you today one of those days that, although basic, had a lingering effect on my heart. It was a Sunday and I woke to the soothing noise of rain, the sky overcast with a gentle gloom. What added to the specialness of this day was having my parents over, as they brought a great sense of warmth and joy to our home.
Having freshened up, I began to put together breakfast for the family. I cooked up a wonderful meal of chicken stew coupled with homemade ruti—almost perfect for rainy mornings. As we ended breakfast, my little one woke up, and we invested some time together as he enjoyed playing with my parents.
seeing their relationship evolve makes me incredibly happy. Having the opportunity, I went back to the kitchen to set up lunch. Because of the rain, 'khichuri' was the only thing that would satisfy. Along with it, I cooked hilsha fish fry, begun vaja (fried eggplant), and peyaz morich vorta (spicy mashed onions and chilies).
Having lunch prepared, I refreshed myself with a shower, dressed appropriately, and came together with the family for a lovable, satisfying meal. With the afternoon on its way, the rain and full stomach demanded a deserved nap. After getting some rest, we intended to spend extra time with my parents, sister, and niece.
We stumbled upon an awesome location close to where we live—the BAF Museum. This place is stunning, with a calm lake and different aircraft on view for those visiting. As I was there with my husband prior, I managed to share a number of interesting facts about the aircraft with my family.
We collected a lot of photos that reflected the cheerful occasions. Even though he didn't join in the fun of the children’s activities, my son was very excited. We really took our time to explore the museum, enjoying the substantial history available.
As it started to get dark, we stopped by a neighbourhood snacks shop for some delicious goodies—chotpoti, fuchka, and lassi. Each bite tasted wonderful, and we appreciated every second, exchanging laughs and stories. Then, we went to Dharmatala to enjoy their famous malai cha (tea), which wrapped up our little adventure so nicely.
Back at home, my husband enjoyed surprising us by baking delicious pizza for dinner as a special favor for my parents. We capped off the day in a great mood, filled with love and a delicious spread.
It was a day rich with straightforward enjoyment—home cooked meals, family outings, and quality time as a family. It may have been unintended and random, but it treated me to a deep gratitude for the small pleasures of life. In essence, frequently the most undistinguished days become the days we treasure the most. It’s less about grand occasions and more about the affection we show and the investing of time in the people who hold important places in our lives.
