In this contest, I present a picture of an old-time lighting device before electricity was evenly distributed to villages in our country Indonesia. This lighting device is called a petromax lantern lamp. This lamp is fueled by kerosene or often called (kerosene). In the past, this petromax lantern lamp was very useful and helped people in the dark. I remember, when I was little and I was taken by my grandfather to traditional events held at night. In the past, electricity was not widely used by villagers. There were only a few houses, even for those who were included in the wealthy community or often called rich and had a lot of money. I remember the lantern lamp which had the ability to light at night that could beat the lighting from candles, even this lamp was almost similar to electric lighting. Although the lighting does not reach that far, this lantern lamp is a favorite or everyone's dream when night falls. I remember the old days when this lantern lamp was the mainstay of the community when holding events at night.

However, although the light may not be like electric lights in general, it can beat candlelight. It is not easy to light this lantern lamp! Moreover, this lamp requires patience when we want to turn it on. This lantern lamp has stages when it is about to be turned on.

First we have to prepare kerosene to fill this lantern tube. Then start pumping a little so that the oil starts to wet the cloth inside. After that, try lighting the cloth using fire then let it sit for 1 minute until the cloth becomes a ball of fire. Then start pumping continuously until the cloth that is lit starts to light up and does not look like fire around it. And then after that the lamp will light up brightly without any fire around it.
