Gracious Uruan Bride Attire
Introduction
In Uruan traditional marriage, the bride usually looks stunning, elegance,beautiful and sophisticated and confident.The reason for this isn't far-fetched,Uruan ethnic group derived it's cultural heritage from it surrounded uncle "The Efik" Calabar in Cross River State.
From the history Uruan is believed to migrate from usakedet,a coastal town in Cameroun, settled in the oilrich riverine environment that is stretching from the river estruary of Cross River State through another wide river called Akwa Akpa Uruan(big estuary of Uruan). Uruan shares nearly all of it's cultural heritage including dialect, cuisine, masquerade etc with the Efik,a notorious and Noble tribe in Cross River State.
In fact there's an adage that usually says Uruan edi Efik (Uruan is Efik).
The Bride
Uruan bride usually appears gorgeous and glowing with 3 outstanding things; ( i ) her hair ( ii ) her dress ( iii ) her staff
Her Hair
The hair of the bride is usually braided inner weaved-in up ( chuku style ) , matted down at the back and pinned up with dazzling golden adorning pin-ups to epitomize beauty,carriage and grace.

Her Dress
The dress styles are in two types ,one is called "Ofong Ukod anwan" usually won by brides during their fattening room before marriage in the olden days while the second is "Onyonyo".
Currently "Onyonyo" is the trending bridal dress for the Uruan brides.It's a flowing long gown usually victorien queen style,sewn in gathers or flay joined from under the breast bone or navel down the foot.The body is joined up with a square or round neck with an off -shoulder stylish hand.
The dress depicts royalty,elegance,poise and standing tall in the crowd portraying the very essence of how women in Uruan and Efik is held in high esteem.

Her Staff
The bride's matching staff is a long rod, designed with muffled bridal satin cloth on top also decorated with golden painting
This staff indicates regality, strength,royalty, authority and voice the Uruan bride would possess even being married into her husband's home.
