Contest Alert ⚠️ 1 Picture 1 Story Week #76

Steem greetings @everyone and welcome to my blog as I participate in the contest “1 picture 1 story” week 76. My story will dwell on my environment and we witnessed first rains of the year today.

^{First rain After the dry season}

In Cameroon, we experienced 2 seasons that is the rainy season and the dry season. The dry season starts from early October to early March while the rainy season starts from mid March till September.

During the dry season, we often suffer heatwaves, dust and the easterly winds blowing across the Sahara desert and bringing along with sand dust particles. This is the most harsher season for me because the sun is supper hot and moving around is challenging.

For some years now, we have been witnessing a great change in the various seasons. At times the rainy season starts unexpected or either delay. At times, the rainy season prolongs till December which is unusual.

The last days we have been experiencing heat waves and temperatures were high which affected my kids health wise. I had to pray for the rains to at least fall for about some days to wash away the dust and reduced the heat we were experiencing. Today, God answer my prayers and it rains cats and dogs.

While the rain was falling, I went outdoor to experienced it firsthand and I saw my neighbour washing his car under the rain. Then one thing came to my mind, whenever it was first rain in my village, everyone wants to appear the next day looking clean. There is absolutely no way one could go out with dusty shoes or a dusty car because the rain will exposed those dirty folks pretending and covering up because of the dry season dust.

Imagine moving on the road the next day after the rains with a dusty car🤔🤔. Though the first rain came earlier than expected I hope the rains will not delayed to be fully back by mid March. There was one year the rains came earlier in February, farmers planted their produce and later on suffered serious droughts. It led to serious food scarcity in my area.

All I can say is that farmers should be more vigilant and not rush to plant because of the first rains. We are presently suffering from climate change and we are unable to detect when exactly is the planting season.
