What do you know about the laws? Tell us briefly.
A law refers to a rule that is enforced and created by the regulatory power within a country with the aim of keeping order and restraining wrongdoers in a community and they set standards of what is acceptable and what is not – business can refer to them to know what is acceptable in the society and what is not acceptable an usually laws are implemented by societies’ institutions which include the police, courts and government organizations.
And they relate to criminal law-rendering advice regarding offenses such as theft or assault; civil law, which deal with disputes between individuals or organizations; administrative law, which governs the actions of distinct organizations.
If you could change one law in your country, what would it be?
The one law that I would wish to change in my country which is Nigeria, is with regard to the Business of enhancement and effectiveness of Human rights laws. Nigeria has had her herculean task in dealing with some of these matters such as police brutality of which the EndSARS campaign sought to address the issue.
I would campaign for legislation that fosters police change, and especially makes sure that cases of misconduct are canned and those involved punished to the utmost extent of the law whilst winners are protected to the legal capacity also I would improve laws on discrimination to make certain that any Nigerian will be treated equally no matter his or her color, religion or sex.
Then finally I will concretise the freedom of speech and of the press so that citizens of Nigeria can freely speak and be heard without being threatened or regressed and i believe that this changes would not only protect individual freedom but also create grounds for auasisian built and probably a more unified Nigeria.
Why do you think this law needs to be changed?
To me I think the reasons why human rights laws need to be enhanced in Nigeria is first, widespread Police Brutality: Elements of social unrest EndSARS protests exposed the opponent’s systemic problems – including police raids, arrests for on-the-spot fines, and attacks on protesters and currently, there is a need for passing stringent laws and introduce corresponding accountability structures, which would make law enforcement agencies protect the population rather than exploit it.
And another reason is persistent discrimination, this is because racism, religious discrimination, gender and other forms of discriminator based on social status continue to feature in most parts of employment opportunities and treatment in Nigeria. An improved set of rules assists eliminating prejudice and developing equality and unity throughout the turns.
Here again, threats to Freedom of Speech, Free speech is still a dream in many countries where citizen report abuse by government officials, activists or mere citizens urging for change are threatened, arrested, or even jailed. Protecting free speech is important to democracy, important that corruption & mal-administration be uncovered & that ineffective leaders be exposed.
And the enhancement of the human rights laws would help in the abolishment of Nigeria’s poor human rights record as a way of marketing the country for both domestic and international investment, partnership and improvement in development.
How this change will affect the society and your country?
These how this change would positively affect society and my country Nigerian for police brutality concerning reforms would adapt a better police force and improved relations between the public, Specifically Police and the other. It would help minimize conflict as it would seek to solve some of the systematic injustices thus enhancing order and tranquility.
Better human rights protections would also, of course, improve economic performance through increased investment and innovation making Nigeria attractive to interested domestic and foreign investors. Also these changes would bring about improvement of the image of Nigeria to the rest of the world, declaring its support for democracy and justice, as well as would open more opportunities for establishing international relation and collaborative agreements.
