What Does Africa Mean To You?

As the inhabitants of earth which is sub-divided into continents so therefore my understanding of the word Africa is just very simple, as it is simply a continent in our planet earth.

Africa is popularly known for it's many cultures some of which might be very scary at times and also Africa is the giant land of the negro's race and the second largest continent in the world after asia

Why Is Nigeria Regarded As The Giant of Africa?

The reason why Nigeria is being regarded as the giant of Africa are not much but I will mention few, the reason why Nigeria my country is being regarded as the giant of Africa is because of it's population, economical advancement as compared to other African countries as well as the level of natural resources that we have.

Are You And African And Are You Proud Of Your Continent?

Absolutely yes I am an African and I am from Nigeria which is as we'd mentioned earlier the giant of Africa, but in the sense of being proud of my continents hmmm 🤔, actually I'm proud of my continents as a whole.

But a situation were my country Nigeria is involved I won't say that I'm proud because the present situation here in Nigeria is becoming worst everyday and things are becoming to hard and too expensive for a common man to be able to afford thus making life unbearable for all of us citizens.

Nigeria as we all know being the giant of Africa isn't because it's big in size "No" as many African Countries out beats it in terms of land mass, but Nigeria naturally is a bless nation gifted with natural resources and filled with amazing cultural practices.

Nigeria gain her independent in the year 1960 after being ruled by the British colonial master from 1914 which was the year of the amalgamation done by lord lugard which divided Nigeria into province.

Like I'd said Nigeria gain her independent in the year 1960 after being ruled by the British colonial master from 1914 all thanks to the strive of some educated elite which included Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, chief obafemi owolowo and many others who started a movement that at last led to the independent of Nigeria

After the independent of Nigeria sir abubakar tafawa belewa became the first prime minister of the nation and in 1963 Nigeria became a republic and adopted a democratic system of government and Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe was elected as the first Nigerian president

According to history Nigeria would have been a great nation but in the past years our leaders wasted their time and resources fighting over power, as history says that from the time of independence till the year 2000 Nigeria had encounter two coup de tat (military intervention in politics), several electoral crisis, civil war, threats to divide the country, embezzlement of public funds and so much more

And the only thing our leaders had achieve during this period was the creation of states, but if only they had focus all that time in managing our resources well the Nigeria we know today would have been a great nation as things wouldn't have been this hard

In some countries I am very much certain that a price of steem can buy a litre of fuel meanwhile in my country Nigeria a litre of fuel cost about 3.8 steem, so you can imagine how can a person survive as the cost of transportation is becoming too high and goods and food are becoming very expensive
