Hi there guys how are you all doing today I sincerely hope that you all are enjoying your day, I'm so happy to welcome you all to yet again another amazing contest organised by @artist1111 titled "Social Media: Friend or Foe?"

In my today's entry I will be sharing with you all how social media has impacted my individual life, ways in which social medias can be harmful to an individual and lastly my believe that social media is overall beneficial or detrimental

First of all I will like to say "welcome to the 21st century" were technology and social medias is the order of the day, and without much delay let's proceed.

HOW HAS SOCIAL MEDIA POSITIVELY IMPACTED YOUR INDIVIDUALS LIFE?

As we all know that we are now living in a world were everything works on social media and most of us today can't even survive a single day without it.

So for me personally social media has greatly impacted my life in so many ways beyond imagination and more than my expectations and there are;

• Making new friends
• General knowledge
• Earning passive income

MAKING NEW FRIENDS

All thanks to social media and with the use of apps like Facebook and Instagram I have been able to make new friends by chatting with them on a regular basis, for example it's with the help of social media that I got to chat with @abdullahw2 who is also a steemian

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE

With the help of social media I've got to learn more about many people around the world and also got to learn more about the world at large and with it I've got to know about the different part of the world

EARNING PASSIVE INCOME

With the help of social media and all thanks to the steemit platform which is also a social blockchain network I have got to earn some decent passive income from it as a result of doing what I love which is writing.

IN WHAT WAYS DO YOU THINK SOCIAL MEDIA CAN BE HARMFUL FOR INDIVIDUALS?

Social media has its benefits and importance but at the same time it also has its own disadvantages which can turn out to be harmful for individuals who are using them and there are;

---

Through regular exposure to social media an individual may become addicted to the things he or she sees online thereby distracting him or her psychologically, mentally and socially.

---

Social media has greatly affected students in schools cause it takes and consumes 90% of their time thereby causing them to loose focus thereby failing in the exams.

---

Social media has greatly exposed a lot of young individuals to adults content which there are not supposed to see thereby creating in them an unnecessary form of lust.

---

Social media has become a channel which has exposed the world to fraud and social media scams which in Nigeria we call it "Yahoo"

DO YOU BELIEVE SOCIAL MEDIA IS OVERALL BENEFICIAL OR DETRIMENTAL? Why?

Trying to pass out a judgement on weather social media is either beneficial or detrimental would be an understatement, but for sure we all know that social media has greatly been of beneficial to a lot of people and at the same time has been detrimental depending on what it's being used for.

---

For social media to be beneficial it depends on the manner in which we make use of so therefore if we try and set limitations on the manner in which we make use of this Social Media then it can be said to be beneficial.

---

On the other hand if we make use of them negatively and spend too much time on it then it can be said to be hazardous to an individual cause it will deprived off so many things as all their concentration will be on the social network.

Social media has indeed affected a lot of people negatively and has also indeed changed our lives positively in so many ways, this will be the end of my entry and I sincerely hope that you all enjoyed reading through it and remain bless.
