The pursuit of my career and aligning with calling is to teach in University as a lecturer. This doesn't mean I won't find a profitable business and venture in as occupation. I love that entrepreneurial spirit. Making extra profit, executing, directing and exemplifying the leadership qualities by imparting the entrepreneurial skills and knowledge I have to others has always been my burning desire . But how do I make a choice between these two variables which appear to be my earnest desire to achieve both of them?. For the sake of this contest, I'll go for the opportunity cost.
What is your dream job or business, and why is it your dream?
From my growing years, I have always been close to the educational world, in which knowledge and experience can be imparted, exchanged. Out of numerous careers, I have been fascinated by the profession of University lecturer.
Inspiring learners, building minds, shaping character and making my impacts to academic and individuals growth is something that tallys well with my passion for learning and teaching, the more reason I take on the job of teaching currently in the private sector preparing me for the dream of tomorrow.
For me, teaching in the university as a lecturer is not merely my career aspiration, it's a resonance of a calling that align with my goals personally and professionally. Additionally, I also love to share knowledge, skills and experience to others through mentoring and coaching.
What skills or qualifications would you need to achieve it?
Achieving this requires me to advance my studies which I'm about to start my Master's degree programme. With that I can be an assistant lecturer while running the programme, then converting to a full fledged lecturer and be vying for PhD for an advantageous placement and promotion.
I will need to engage in extensive training and research. Dedicating a time frame for dogged reading and studies, bringing about an innovative ideas through research that solve real life issues and advancing knowledge. I need to collaborate with the experts in my field, partner with the like-minded, getting mentorship and coaching from already established professionals in and out of my field.
How would your dream job or business positively impact your life or others?
Lecturing will expand and advance my knowledge making me to become more vibrant and proficient being updated in my field and other specialised fields. The horizon of knowledge and experience acquired will wider enough exerting innovative ideas that enhance students knowledge, growth, skills and creativity power. By inspiring others, I'll have to inculcate in them ethics and moralities, intellectual advancement thereby impacting them positively.
What steps are you currently taking (or planning to take) to make your dream a reality?
Currently, I'm about to purchase a Msc degree programme form. I am eagerly waiting for the school to fully resume as I made enquiry weeks ago from the School of graduates Studies, the Registrar informed me to be on the hold till this month ending. I have fully set out plans for this purpose. While I'm waiting for the form, I'm going back to reading and studies to refresh my brain faculty conditioning it to getting used to what's coming ahead.
My dream job as a Lecturer in the University is more than a career choice. It's the passion I have for academic work, sharing knowledge and skill to others, encouraging them to be creative and innovative. And to boost the students morale to develop their minds to reach their full potentials thereby being an inspiration, creating an indelible impact to students as well as the society.
