The wait never ends, the wait to listen to good news, the wait to hear that our loved one is okay.
The last time I visited a public medical, I stood in the corridor of the second floor of the building and watched the people from over there. Everyone was busy, some came for their own and some for their loved ones.
There was fear, frustration, anxiety, and sleeplessness in their eyes. I was observing it all...
Fortunately, I have been there not for any emergency but for regular Thyroid check-ups. But the wait was not getting over, I was standing in a long queue.
The endocrinology department is just beside the burn unit of this medical. While waiting I saw a lot of burn patients. Some of their condition was so bad that I had to take my eyes off them. We couldn't do anything but pray. Sometimes all we need is this 'real life check' to feel much more appreciative and grounded, no?
And then the view from this second floor. The architecture of the building is mesmerizing. That doesn't help ease the pain of the patients. Thousands of people come and go, some get cures, and some have to go on stretchers. And if luck doesn't support them, some might go on special vans that carry dead bodies.
Life is unpredictable. The only thing we can predict and control is how we would react to life. It's a game-changer. Just like many other patients in the building, I was also feeling uncomfortable, fearful, and frustrated. And on top of everything, maybe 'hopeless'. But I didn't let these emotions take over me. That's the resilience we need to learn.
Real life is filterless. Be courageous and fight, there's no in-between...
