Good morning 🌄

Greetings to you all!
Today topic is going to be very interesting because topic relates to my field physical therapy and an important subject of my field which is electro therapy which is used in treatment of many of the patients and I am going to discuss some of the modalities and their difference.

What is TENS?

TENS is abbreviated as transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation so trans means behind or below and word relates to skin so transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation is the electrical current that patient feels beneath their skin. There is a question which arises that why we give electrical stimulation under skin to a patient.

Reason for giving electrical stimulation under skin is very simple and it is for the relief of pain to patient to some extent for some hours but it is important to remember that this is not a permanent solution or permanent treatment of pain and after that second benefit of using this electrical stimulation under the skin of patient is to have good circulation in affected area so as it helps in circulation also in this way it is helpful in treatment.

What is ultrasound?

Ultrasound is again a machine which is used widely in electro therapy for many of purposes and especially for the relief of pain and it is not current it is just heat that we apply to patient in his effective area in which he feels pain. There is an important thing to remember that ultrasound rays cannot be absorbed by skin if there is no medium we placed between skin and ultrasound head So aqua gel is best medium that we can place between skin and ultrasound Head So that rays may penetrate in a good way.

How we can differentiate both of these machines from each other?
TENSUltrasound
TENS is used to relief pain but it has electrodes that we place at effective area of patient and it gives current to patient not the heating effectUltrasound is also used to relief pain by heating muscles or affected area of patient but it doesn't give current to patient
If there is a nerve issue then it can be treated by the use of TENSUltrasound treatment have no link with a patient who have nerve issue.

That was all about an importance of electro therapy for treatment of different abnormalities and hopefully this post would be very informative for all of you guys and I would try my best with the passage of time to guide everything about health.

Have a nice day 😊
