Contest - Social Media: Friend or Foe?

I will be participating in this contest by my very own boss @artist1111, I appreciate him for creating this contest. Social media is known to be something that has become 99% helpful to humans and I will briefly talk about my views concerning the contest questions.

How has social media positively impacted your life?

Social has positively impacted my life in so many ways which are;

Joining steemit : Through social media I was able to join steemit, steemit is a social media platform where we earn while interacting with different people all over the world.

Right now have learnt alot of things in steemit just because of the existence of social media. I love the fact that steemians now communities in groups in other social media platforms.

Communication : I have been able to communicate with people who aren't close to me anymore and people I have never met before.

We normally chat on Facebook, Whatsapp and discord. I hardly make use of my telegram app these days.

Entertainment : I have been able to get joy whenever am unhappy, through the social media by watching funny videos on social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok and Instagram.

Comedians online are very exciting and funny. Watching short videos comedy is a very wonderful thing to do when bored.

Information : Social media platforms has made me to be able to get updates about things happening in my country as well as the world.

Most times I get information about the current situations of Nigerian celebrities, through the Facebook and Twitter platforms.

In what ways do you think social media can be harmful for individuals?

Social media is also harmful to us and I will share few ways in which it can be harmful;

Fake news : Bloggers on social media develop the habit of spreading fake news around the net just to make more money and fame. This will eventually cause confusion among people until they get the right information.

Fraud : Yahoo boys known as fraudsters are now using the internet to scam people inside and outside Nigeria, this is one of the things that's trending in the lives of young boys in my area.

Addiction : Most teenagers or students are very addictive to social media which is very bad, they no longer study or do house chores, all they do is to chat and post unnecessarily on line.

Do you believe social media is overall beneficial or detrimental? Why?

I feel social media is overall beneficial because without it we can't survive in so many areas of life. Am on the advantage side of social media and not the disadvantage aspect. We can easily avoid it's disadvantages if we eventually become wiser.
