(Fictional story of the origin of the Chatak bird.)

The story that I am going to share today is completely fictional and I have heard this story from my grandmother, grandmother or mother, aunts since childhood.

A long time ago, a shepherd worked in a farmer's house. Every day the shepherd rode the cows to the field and when he came home he would bathe the cows from the river. This is how his day goes on. The farmer was a baralok i.e. he owned a lot of land so he lived by farming his land. Besides, his cows were looked after by shepherds. He had a few cows.

So this is how their day goes. But nature's climate is not the same. When summer comes, drought occurs in the country. The river channel almost dries up. So the farmer makes a promise to the cowherd to bathe the cows every day. The shepherd was a liar, he almost lied to the farmer.

The river is far away from the field where the shepherd grazes the cows. So he often came home and lied that he had bathed the cows. Besides, there was not much water in the river. A farmer can never cross the river for his household work. And the shepherd took advantage of this weakness of the farmer and came home and lied that he had bathed the cows.

One day, if the farmer takes the shepherd to bathe the cows, why should the cows get wet? So the farmer promised the cowherd to bathe the cows and bring them home the next day. Meanwhile, the water in the river has dried up.

The next day the cowherd urinates and wets the cows' legs with urine and tells the farmer that he has bathed the cows in the river water. On arrival the Guru's body is dry and his feet are wet.

Now the farmer caught the trick of the shepherd. Because the farmer came to know that the water in the river has dried up. So how did he bathe the cows? Later, if you ask the shepherd carefully, the shepherd will tell the truth.

The farmer hears this and curses the shepherd to become a bird for such lying and misdeeds about water, and with great difficulty he can drink water even though he shouts water. That is, the Chatak bird is born from there. The Chatak bird cannot drink water unless it rains and moans or screams for water. Even if it can be everywhere, it cannot drink water except rain water.

Here, if the shepherd had told the farmer the truth that the river had dried up, the farmer would not have cursed the boy.

(Though the story is fictional, there is a lot to be learned in the story. As with action, so is the result.)
