A Village Story

Once in a calm village located in greenfield area with touch of mountains, a man Rehman was a farmer by his profession. They describe him as a guy, who was very kind and who loved nature very much. Some of Rehman’s land was fertile and he had the sweetest mangoes in the whole area as well.

They say the extraordinary incident occurred when Rehman was working in his wheat fields one day and discovered a small bird which had been injured and was helplessly lying under a tree. It appeared to have crashed when it was still in its incubation period. Out of pity he took the bird gingerly into his hands, and brought it home. He fashioned a small nest from a straw and placed it beside the window where there was sunlight all the time Rehman was feeding the bird with grains and water every day until it recovered.

Days go on then slowly but surely the bird began to find the strength it needs. It started singing in a soothing manner clear the joy of Rehman’s house. Villagers followed this and began to visit his home in order to listen to the melodious songs of the bird. People fell for Rehman’s kindness and everyone emulated him.

One fine morning the bird flew out of the window fly over the village and went up into the skies. Rehman looked satisfied and as he walked along watching it he smiled thinking that it had gone back to its freedom. Several days later it returned to the same spot, this time followed by tens of similar birds. They sat in the trees surrounding Rehman’s farm to guard his veggies against insects and to add cheers with their tweets.

Start the villagers were developing impression that Rehman’s fields were some kind of magical land that only reward good deeds and kind actions. Eventually, the village got associated with sweet mangoes which indeed was the symbol of prosperity after Rehman sacrified for the welfare of all.

And therefore the village prospered and grew as the message of a potential for joy and generosity spoken through small signals and acts was appreciated and retold time and again.
