Hello friends,

Let's talk about Grandmother! I wish I'd experienced the love from my Grandparents but all the same, I have one special Grandma that I would talk about here. Just stay with me...

What do you understand by the word Grandmother?

Grandmother is the mother of my father or the mother of my mother. They are called Granny, Nana, or Grandma.

Grandmothers are mothers, but are called grand because they are of age. Grand is used for older generations. They are now old and have their children and grandchildren to look after them. Most of them can no longer perform certain tasks themselves.

You know grandmothers can be many things. She's a friend, a playmate, and a sharp mouth that can say whatever pleases her and get away with it.

Is your grandmother still alive, if no, tell us what led to her death, if yes, tell us how she's doing.

My grandma no longer shares this life with us; she died a very long time ago, even before I was conceived. I never met her, and she didn't meet me either. My mom told me a lot about her, and I wish I'd met with her; I think I would have had a different view of her.

According to my mom, she was the sweetest mom anyone would die to have. She prayed and taught them lots of things that they know today. She cooked the best dishes for them and would serve them once they returned from school.

She was a good storyteller, and each story she tells carries a whole lot of lessons to learn. But one day, she fell ill. They took her to various herbalists for a cure, but she never got better; instead, she kept getting worse.

She took a lot of herbs, but at a time she decided she wouldn't take them again because she wasn't getting any better. She would stay with her children on the bed as she advised them.

This sickness lasted for one month until one morning when my mom and her siblings woke up. They went to check on their mom; when they called on her, she did not respond; they thought she was still sleeping, so they left her.

After some time of waiting for her, my mom went back to check again, and this time, she got scared and called on their aunt to come and check on their mom; that was when they discovered she was long dead. She died a peaceful death.

Is there an old woman in your neighborhood? Tell us about her as well

Yes, in my neighborhood lives Grandma Irene. She's a very beautiful woman at old age, and she wondered how she looked in her youthful age. She's kind, gentle, focused, ambitious, and brave.

I helped this woman just once to carry her bag, and since then she calls me her daughter. I would visit her on weekends to know how she was doing and also help her do some chores before leaving.

Grandma Irene is a very good woman who advises like my grandmother and prays like her, and she's always cheerful. All her children stay abroad, but she refuses to go there, and she stays alone; she refuses to have a nanny. That's why I said she's brave.

I enjoy her company each time I visit. She would tell me lots of beautiful stories. She would sing and even cook by herself for me to eat. She's just a great woman.

Tell us about the best advice you have received from an old woman

The best advice I have received from an old woman is "Life happens to those who allow it. Whatever your life turns out to become lies in your hands."

This advice was given to me by Grandma Irene. She told me a story of her life that made it clear to me that life happens only to those who allow it.

This advice simply means I have the right to make decisions about what I want and what I don't want.

This advice has helped me shape my life into what it is today, and I'm grateful to Grandma Irene!
