Hey Steemian friends!
Back in my teenage days, the only goal I had was to escape Sri Lanka for higher studies. Eventually I did it and I was on my 06 month training job placement in Singapore. That’s when I knew what the job is. Fast forward to 2017, I decided to start my own start up and that’s when I knew what the business is. Two completely different experiences. Let’s me share which one I prefer.
👉 How do you manage your monthly budget in a job or Business? |
---|
When I was a carefree single young man, budgeting wasn't even in my vocabulary. Living in a hotel, every need was catered for, and I never bothered with my salary deposits because we had service charge and tip money for the daily expenses. Marriage, however, brought a reality check. Balancing life's responsibilities required a budget, but as many may resonate, expenses have a magical way of matching the salary, It was never enough every month.
Somehow, I was fortunate to build a capital and start my business. Working on a budget on a business is extremely important. We have to make sure that we have all the liabilities covered in a month and our sales are on track to cover the expenses. Theories like break-even points and financial forecasting became my trusted allies in this budget battle.
👉 Skill or Education what is important for getting a handsome Job or running a successful business? |
---|
In my career, I've witnessed individuals without formal education climbing the ranks solely through skill and experience.
In the hospitality sector, practical knowledge often trumps degrees. I had a resort manager who came from the position of house keeper. Friend of mine became a chef after joining as a kitchen cleaner. So, education might not be the only factor to make things work.
However, in the business arena, a bit of education can be a game changer. Theories empower decision making and strategic planning, providing a distinct advantage. While real world experience is invaluable, combing it with a bit of wisdom from the books can amplify success.
👉 Do you want to become a Boss or A Successful Businessman? |
---|
There’s no doubt I want to be a Successful Businessman and a good leader. Not a so called boss by any mean. I had worked under many bosses and also I’ve become a department head in my carrier. I never try to be the boss when I reach to the executive level.
👉 Successful story of your preference Job or Business? |
---|
Reflecting on my journey in the hospitality industry, one milestone stands out. That is opportunity to serve as a consultant for an Australian aid project. Training provinces in Sri Lanka for the accommodation sector was a turning point in my career. As this achievement contribute to a larger cause, remains high in my memory. It's a testament to the potential impact one can have beyond the confines of a traditional job.

Regards,
You used to spend as much as you wanted before marriage, but after marriage you have to focus on budgeting. From this we can see that marriage makes us responsible. Budgeting in business gives us the financial forecast which is essential for budgeting. Education and skills are key to success. I agree with you that skill moves people up. Good luck to you
