"My dream ice cream"

The letter “I” of the alphabet.
“I scream, you scream, and we all scream for ice cream.”

This is a rhyme we were taught by our mother long before we started school. These words come from a song that is nearly 100 years old. There was always ice cream in our house, and these were the secret words for mom to take out that ice cream.

I can, in all honesty, say that I don’t like ice cream. No, I LOVE ice cream.
Pink, white, chocolate, rainbow, with or without nuts, it doesn’t matter; I will take it whatever way it comes.

We eat a lot of ice cream at home. We will eat it just like that, with a waffle or in our smoothies, morning, afternoon, and at night. With that, you should think that my favorite place to eat ice cream will be at home. But it is not.

We have this French ice cream parlor where they sell the most exquisite ice creams. It is ice cream made with egg custard like only the French can make it. It is rich and creamy. Those double cream ice creams with pistachio nuts, red velvet chocolate, cookies á cream, salted caramel, and many more flavors. You actually get a small spoon, and you are allowed to taste three different ice creams before you decide which one you want. One scoop of these ice creams costs +/- 9 STEEM. Just one scoop!

I will normally stop there with my stepson, and then the two of us will choose a scoop each. I will then drive down the street to the beach, where we will sit in the car overlooking the ocean while we eat our ice cream. There is no better place than the beach to have ice cream in the winter, summer, sunshine, or rain.

My stepson tells me that I am boring. I will try three different ice creams, but in the end, I will choose the same one time and time again: ice cream with hazelnut.

Umh… If I had the opportunity to create my dream ice cream, what would it be?
This is a very interesting question.

YES! I love beetroot just as much as I love ice cream. I would love to make beetroot ice cream with dried beetroot bits in it. Oh yummy!

Now, let me tell you what happened to us, my stepson and me, on Sunday.

With my husband not at home, I took him out for brunch. Brunch is what you have when it is too late for breakfast and too early for lunch. Afterwards, he asked me if we were going to have some ice cream. I was in a rush to get home as I had guests checking out. I didn’t see a chance to drive to our favorite ice cream parlor. Instead, I took him to one just around the corner from where we ate.

They were selling something I had never had before, an “ice cream roll.” Of course, my stepson wanted one, but I declined as I was just too full from the meal. I bought myself a mini Bienenstich (bee sting) cake to eat later, another favorite of mine.

Anyway, back to the ice cream roll.

The gentleman told us to take a seat at the counter, and then the action with the “ice cream roll” started. My stepson ordered a rolled brownie ice cream.

The cost for this ice cream roll is +/- 19 STEEM. In my opinion, it is a lot for one cup of ice cream. My stepson gave me one of the rolls to taste. It was not to my liking. It had a nice taste, but the ice cream roll itself was chewy and not at all creamy like ice cream should be. To top ice cream with cream is also not how ice cream should be served. For the time it took to make it, I could have driven to our favorite ice cream parlor and bought him two scoops of real ice cream.

This is where I end my ice cream story today... time to head to the freezer!
