in hive-180301 •  3 years ago  (edited)

In some countries Ramadan started on Sunday and here in Mauritius we started today - Monday 4th of April being the 1st Ramadan...

I seize this opportunity to wish everyone who will be fasting for the next 29 or 30 days of Ramadan. Ramadan Kareem to all my Muslim brothers and sisters! May God bless us with the chance to repent for our sins and grant us mercy!

My Iftaar Table Number 01!

Same as each year, it will be a pleasure for me to share with you my daily Iftaar table (breaking the fast when the sun sets!)

And with the lovely contest of @decuartae, I will be present quite often for the next few weeks in MENÚ DU JOUR...

Get ready for many food tables loaded with delicious foods...there'll be a lot!!!

Everyday at my place, we all put hands together and prepare different foods that we place on the table and we all break our fast with...

I always make my best to set up our Iftaar table in a nice way that all the foods we put on there look nice...hope you like them!

Let's go for the first table we set up for this year! Enjoy!

Part of our first Iftaar table for this Ramadan!

The first is always the most difficult one to set...but I am happy with the result! In couple of days it will become a habit and easy thing to do!

So today the main item was the delicious beef lasagna made by my wife with loads of Mozzarella...

It was by far the favorite of all for the first Iftaar...really very yummy!

Snacks...Soup...Fruits...Drinks...

We put out a lot of items for our first Iftaar table...

On the snacks side, we had chicken samosas and tuna fish spring rolls which we enjoyed with some spicy sauce!

Harira Soup...

My wife being Moroccan, you will always find the famous Harira Soup and Chebakia present...

Chebakia is a sweet made with sesame seeds and honey mainly which are best enjoyed while having your Harira Soup!

It's a classic in Morocco and surely in some other Arab countries too!

Below are some items that will also be present on nearly all our Iftaar tables...

  • Dates
  • Dried Figs
  • Almond Briouat (samosa with pure almond paste and honey!)

And on the drinks side we had :

  • Moroccan Mint Tea
  • Mauritian Vanilla and Milk Tea
  • Water
  • Fresh Orange Juice
  • Chilled Milk for the kids

Watermelon and Pears

Everyday we have to be sure to at least have 2 or 3 fresh fruits available on the table...after a day fasting, your body needs some fruits intake to get you in form for the next fasting day...

So today on top of the fresh orange juice, we had watermelon and pears on the table!

And some Chocolates too!!!

To make the Iftaar table a little kid friendly...I usually add on some chocolate items here and there...

In the end...everyone loves chocolate, isn't it!? Not only kids!!!

Que mesa tan hermosa se ve que fue realizada con mucho amor y puedo imaginar como disfrutaron todos su alimentos, que triste en mi país o por lo menos en mi localidad no es tradición practicar el ayuno ni elaborar mesa Iftaar.

Hello chef,

Those captures are really beautiful. Happy fasting to you and your family ☺️.

But our Muslim brothers and sisters have to celebrate it in the midst of various crises in the country.😢

Chef, I would like to know what 'Iftaar' means?

Hello my friend! Thanks so much!

I've been reading about the crisis in Sri Lanka and I pray for the best to you all. By the way...even my country is not in that good shape and some have even predicted we will be having same situation as your country soon if no action is taken.

So yes, Iftaar also known as futoor is actually the food/meal the Muslims have to break their fast when the sun is setting.

It differs from countries to countries and also depending on the financial situations of the household.

Usually the women spend a lot of time whole day during the fast to prepare delicious foods for the family to break the fast at the end of the day.

This is due to the corruption, fraud, and wrong decisions of our politicians. We're continuing protests these days to oust this government.

Oh wow, these rituals are really interesting. Then we'll wait to see your next Iftaar table.

Best Regard!
:)
