Traditional Cuisine Challenge - Main dish - Red Rice with Curries

Hello my dear Iron Chefs....,

Glad that I was able to participate in this amazing challenge in the last few hours. I'm so excited to share traditional cuisines in our country with you guys. Also, looking forward to yours too.

This 1st round, it's about a Main Dish. Well, here is my main dish which is a perfect meal for a lunch. It's a dish of Red rice with Curries.

As a Sri Lankan our main meal is Rice and Curry. Most of the time we eat it for breakfast, lunch, & dinner. Yeah, 3 times per day. We are used to it since our childhood. But now, I normally eat it only for my lunch.


There are various kinds of rice. Today I made red rice which has a lot of nutritious values, such as carbohydrates, iron, zinc, potassium, and protein. We can add many types of curries to this meal. Here I made 4 curries with a salad. They are dhal curry, black chicken curry, fried potatoes, bean curry, & cucumber-lettuce salad.

Ingredients

  • Red rice
  • Dhal
  • Chicken
  • Potatoes
  • Beans
  • Cucumber & lettuce
  • Onion
  • Green chilies
  • Pandan leaves & curry leaves
  • Spices

Those are the main ingredients I used to prepare this dish. I have cooked this dhal curry with coconut milk. All you have to do is put all ingredients together into a pot and cook it. Add spices according to your taste. It has protein, & carbohydrates.

I made this black chicken curry which is so delicious. Easy to prepare by adding all the ingredients. Chicken has protein too. It is a mouthwatering chicken curry, right?

Oh, I love this fried potato curry which I learned from my mother. My husband really likes to eat this curry & the taste is soooo good!! I prefer to have something fried for my lunch & I feel that it completes the meal. As well, potatoes have protein, vitamin c, fiber, etc.

Also, something greenery will make the meal balanced. So I cooked a bean curry, as well as a cucumber-lettuce salad. We all know that green vegetables consist of a lot of nutrition.

Well, it was actually a lot of work. But I do not feel tired, because I really enjoy cooking! Finally, everything is ready. Time to plate my dish. Everyone, look how I plated my dish.
