“S16-W2 “My favorite sugar-free beverage"

Orange juice is one of the most refreshing beverages to quench your thirst on a hot summer day. Today, I'm going to make it even healthier by using an alternative to sugar. As you all may know nowadays, many use artificial citrus flavorings and sweeteners to enhance the taste. We can hardly find a fresh Orange juice that's good for our health and tastes better.

Here in Sri Lanka, It's the season of mandarin. It is easily available everywhere in our area. I bought 10 of these mandarins for LKR100. I love the strong flavor of the mandarins and its color.

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away," This saying should be changed to "An orange a day keeps the doctor away".

Apples are an imported fruit for us and it is often treated with many harsh chemicals to preserve them for many days. Why consume apples when we have more healthy and freshly grown fruits? We have a variety of local oranges that are grown in Sri Lanka. Oranges are the best source of Vitamin C and they help to cure many health diseases such as controlling the level of diabetics, and heart disease and boosting immunity.

Today, we will be using three different citrus fruits to enhance the flavor and to make it more healthy.

Let's check out the ingredients used:

  • Here we have Local green Orange, a few mandarins, and a lime.
  • Salt 1/2 teaspoon
  • A Small pinch of ground Pepper (Optional). Adding ground pepper also increases the beverage's healthiness. Miking ground pepper with lemon use helps to reduce inflammation and detoxify our body.
  • Honey, as per your taste.
  • One cup of water
  • Few Ice cubes.

How to make this beverage

Step 1 : Wash the fruits and cut them into halves.

Step 2 : Squeeze the juice and pour it into a glass container.

Step 3 : Add Salt.

Step 4 : Add Honey.

Step 5 : Add Ice cubes.

Step 6 : Add one cup water.

Step 7 : Lastly add a pinch of pepper.

Voila! Your beverage is ready.

Hello, this is a very tasty drink that can be drunk hot or cold. It is easy to prepare and the pepper should give it a nice flavor, which together with the tangerines combines very well.
I agree with you that we should take advantage of the fruits of our country and that they are in their season of harvest and collection, since imported products often bring many chemicals for preservation.

A great recipe friend that we will surely make at home.
