Hello, steemians and garden lovers!
"We've had early spring, yes, but what about second spring?"
About 3 weeks ago, we had a week of nice, fairly warm spring weather, and then winter came back. It's still cold here. Today was the warmest day we've had in more than a week, and it was only in the low 40s F, definitely not garden weather.
I took these pictures on April 6, you can see the snow still on the ground.
Those pictures were taken on a fairly nice early spring day. A few days later, on the 9th, a lot of the snow had melted, with the temperature in the low 50s F. I decided to do a bit of clean up work in the garden. I started by cleaning up the far end of the garden. The snow on the garden had finally melted away.
First I moved some of the boards off the garden, and then I decided to take down the bean trellis from last year. In this picture, I had everything removed from the trellis posts.
The ground was soft enough that I was able to pull out the trellis posts. They're steel posts with wood attached to them, so I can move them easily every year.
I had previously decided to move the compost pile to this end of the garden when it got warm enough, so that's what I started on next. I moved the little fence around the compost pile, and then moved the compost.
The boards are on the ground to walk on so I don't get mud everywhere.
I still have a pretty big pile of shredded leaves from last fall, I want to eventually move a lot of that to the compost pile.
As soon as we start getting some warmer weather again, I'll be continuing the clean up in this garden. I can't start planting until the end of May because of possible frost, so I have several weeks to get the rest of the prep work done.
That's all I have for this post, thanks for checking it out!
Someone's been busy, our weather has been strange we are supposed to be cooling down but are still getting quite warm days...??
I have never noticed your train track before

I built the track last year. It's handy for moving heavy stuff around the garden, and sometimes I just sit on the flatcar and ride it. :-)

hello, friend, a fairly cold climate is certainly not the most favorable for the good development of the garden. I saw it, I saw it, and it made me cold here in Venezuela, the climate is more tropical, greetings!
