Planting Potatoes In My Community Garden Plots

Hello, steemians and gardeners!

Last week, I finally got all of my seed potatoes planted in my garden plots at the local community garden. This was a longer process than I was expecting it to be. Because of some bad weather, and having to do some other things, it took me more than 2 weeks to get all the seed potatoes planted this year.
I started planting potatoes on May 23. I had rototilled my community garden plots a few days before that, so the plots were ready for planting.

I started the planting process at the bottom of the first plot. I say "bottom" because the community garden is on a bit of a slope, and this is end of the garden is at the bottom of the slope.
I started by using my hard tooth rake to dig the trenches for the first 2 rows.

After the trenches were dug, I placed the seed potatoes in each trench about a foot, or 30cm apart. That gives each plant enough space to grow.

After putting the seed potatoes into the trenches, I covered them with the rake. I didn't cover them very deep with the dirt, just enough to bury them. I'll cover them with more dirt after the plants come up.

I got 4 rows planted that day. Those potatoes are the Adirondack Blue variety.

The next time I was able to get to the community garden for more planting was on May 31. I was able to get 5 rows planted that day. For those rows, I planted red potatoes.

The next day, I planted 3 rows of Yukon Gold potatoes.

After that, it took me another week to get back to my community garden plots to finish planting. I had 3 rows left to plant, and that went fairly quickly. Here is the double plot with all the rows of potatoes planted.

By the time I got the last 3 rows planted, the first 4 rows were coming up out of the ground.

This was last week, more rows of plants have come up since then. Hopefully I'll have an update for you in the next week or so.
