Hello friends! How are you all today? Today I'm going to share about the Shapla. Which is known as a water lily. Water lily is a type of aquatic plant in the flowering tree family. All the plants of this family are known as water lilies. This flower is commonly found in the Indian subcontinent. It blooms more in Haor-Beel and Dighi.
White water lily is found in ponds and paddy fields of Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Myanmar, etc. These flowers can be seen blooming in the cut paddy field.
The water lily blooms in the morning and the petals disappear in the sunlight. Shapla leaves and flower stems are attached to the roots underwater. And these roots are attached to the mud and the leaves float on the water. New leaves are born from the roots. The leaves are round and deep green but black at the base in color. Leaf size is 18 to 20 cm and their range is about 1 to 1.5 m.
Shapla has been used as a food. In different parts of Asia, shapla is eaten as vegetables. The uterus of a water lily has many seeds. This sticky seed is seen to be eaten by the people of the villages of Bangladesh. These seeds are fried to make a kind of food khai called "dhap khai". At the base of the plant is a kind of potato-like tuber called water lily, many people eat it as a vegetable.
Recent studies have found that this plant has the necessary medicinal properties for diabetic diseases. This plant is taken out of the water and dried in the sun and used as cattle feed.
How interesting to learn about traditions in Bangladesh. I am pleasantly surprised by what you have written. At first I thought it was a lotus. But it turns out to be a water lily, its whiteness and petals delightful.
