Surfenia plants |
---|
Surfenia plants can produce seeds, although less frequently than regular petunias. These seeds may also be sterile, as the plant is a hybrid (see Surfenia origin story below). However, experience shows that the leftover seeds will also be very beautiful! Simply, these are a new variety of Petunia and not the original "Surfinia Petunia. For these seeds, sow indoors in trays starting in February/March.
Press the seeds down to make sure they stick to a special "seeding soil mix" without covering them.Water or mist regularly to provide moisture, but not too much. When the first leaves appear, transplant into nursery pots.Wait for the last frost to pass before planting outdoors.Surfenia Petunia is a petunia hybrid with a special fall feature. Obviously, this makes it a great choice for suspended pot arrangements!
It shares with us the gift of having beautiful flowers for a long time. This is a type of weeping, cascading petunia that produces clusters of flowers.Because it is easy to grow, it will grow well in garden boxes, suspensions and even directly in theground.Flowers bloom from early spring to fall. It likes sun and well-drained fertile soil.
The word "surfania" is a trade name, and it refers specifically to plants that are propagated by cuttings. Any seed flowers that develop from these flowers will not be exactly the same due to cross-pollination, so they can no longer be called "Surfinia". However, they are still petunias.
Thank you very much for your beautiful post and photos!
