Prunus laurocerasus is a vigorous, large, spreading evergreen shrub that can grow for 20 or more years to a height of between 4 and 8m and a width of over 8m when left. However it is tolerant to cutting and regenerates well.
It has beautiful, glossy dark green leaves up to 15 cm long. The leaves are thick and leathery to the touch with a thin and broad oval shape, making it an excellent shrub for drought resistance and shade.It produces upright small white flowers up to 12 cm long between May and June followed by bright red cherry-like fruits that soon turn black.
