The protestors have started a march from the Mahasambesh to demand the reinstatement of the canceled posts of assistant teachers in government primary schools. On the road leading to the secretariat, they were stopped by the police. They are staying on that road. The police are trying to disperse them by firing water cannons.
At around 3 o'clock on Sunday, the protestors started their march from the front of the National Museum in Shahbagh, Dhaka. At the time of writing this report at 3:20 PM, thousands of protestors were going from Shahbagh to High Court Mazar Road through TSC of Dhaka University.

Later they left for the road towards the Secretariat. At this time, the police barricaded. Shortly before 4 pm, the police fired water cannons at the protesters. But the agitators are staying there.
One of the protesters, Nazmun Nahar, told Prothom Alo that extreme injustice has been done to those recommended in the third phase for the post of assistant teacher in government primary schools. Those recommended in the first and second phases are now working, while the appointments of those recommended in the same process have been canceled. This two policies in one appointment will not be accepted. We will not leave the streets until our demands are met.

The protesters said that they hold a sit-in program at Shahbagh intersection during the day, and at night they stay in front of the National Press Club. In this way, they have been holding a continuous program for 11 days.

The notification for the recruitment of primary assistant teachers was issued in three phases. The final recruitment process for the first and second phases has been completed. But there is uncertainty about the third phase.

The notification for the third phase was published on June 14, 2023. After the written-oral examination, the results were published on October 31 last year. 6,531 people passed it.

When some of the deprived candidates filed a writ petition, the recruitment process of 6,531 people was suspended for 6 months. Later, on February 6, the High Court ruled to cancel their recruitment process.

Earlier, on Wednesday, those deprived of recruitment for the post of assistant teacher held a protest in front of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education in the capital. Later, on Thursday, as part of the movement, they blocked the road in Shahbagh and protested. The police used water cannons to remove them from Shahbagh.
