My Scout Story. Steemit Participation Challenge, Week 1 by @(ckole)

It's with great elation and excitement I write to participate in this contest. Season 2 of the steemit engagement challenge is hot as every interested steemian storms the platform with wonderful posts. This is what is expected of every member. Our engagement is what would bring fun to the community and others joining us would be glad to stay and continue having fun with us. From the image below, we can see that some youths are packing and arranging woods. Why? For what purpose? It's all about an arrangement for a meet-up. It's all about scouting

Scouting has been in existence for decades and it involves coming together of a group of people, particularly youths to learn, make friends, and have fun. The responsibilities help them develop confidence, good character, leadership skills, and so on. There is a group here in Abuja that organizes scouting every weekend. Why I love the movement is because people come from all over the city far and near and form a group. I was invited by my friend but I'm yet to join them to see how fun it is

There can never be a scout without the word CAMPING. To form a group, there must be a place where everyone needs to converge, rest, and carry out various activities. The organization has a WhatsApp group where information about the next outing would be. They change location every week so they have to communicate the meeting point. Once they converge, they move to a specified location for camping. They always plan well before embarking on the adventure because of bad weather, so they've never had disastrous camping ever since they've been going on their camping trip

But how is it that their tent is always firm and solid, not affected by rain and wind? Well, they have some special squads that are young armed men carrying swords, guns, knives, ax, rope, and more so they have everything they need to cut down woods to make a good and strong shelter for the camping. Everybody is shouldered with the responsibility of fetching wood while the strong ones are busy cutting down tree branches

While cutting down branches and gathering them to make shelter, they are also on the look for dry woods to make CAMPFIRE. If there is no campfire in any outdoor gathering that involves camping, one big memory is lost. The dry wood serves different purposes. It is used to make fire for cooking, prevent cold, for illumination, among others. One of the sweetest parts of the campfire is when they gather around the fire to share stories and memories

Dancing and singing around the fire makes everywhere lively and fun. Camping fire is part of the scenario in camping that never leaves the memory

While various activities are going on in the camp, sharing of knowledge also takes place. The YOUTHS are the reason for creating scouts all over the world and its main objectives are to meet new people, learn, educate, have fun and be self-confident in anything you do. They play games and do a series of competitions

One unique thing about their scouting is that they all work together to be their brother's keepers. BROTHERHOOD is the sharing of love and kindness and caring for one another. They share food and eat together irrespective of when you join or where you come from. It doesn't stop there. They believed that coming together to do things as one means there's room to connect with each other to acquire a reasonable goal. My friend met a guy at the outdoor gathering and till today they are still best of friends. In fact, he was the one that helped him to get a camera at a cheaper rate because he has been into photography for more than 8 years. The love they all share shows that they have a good heart for brotherhood

As you know that no one can cheat the NATURE, the clock will tik regardless of whether time is wasted or not. After exploring nature, the time will reach for every member to dissociate and go to their various homes. But truth be told, the natural ambiance of the camp is always conducive not that it's better than each person's edifice but because of the natural air-water from the river and the sound of different birds singing sweet melodies as they perch on the trees and flying over the strangers in their territory

Frogs and crickets also wouldn't mind joining the noise at night. Their noise grew louder when everywhere become silent. The flow of water miles away would be heard by this time of the night. This is also one of the interesting parts of the adventure where nature talks in different voices to keep the company of those camping in the forest

We can deduce from this that we enjoy the phenomena of the physical world more away from home and that's why camping is mostly done where the products of the earth can be felt naturally
