Introduction

We wish to make this official application for Community of the Month Support by the Steemit Team. It is indeed with great excitement that we make this application. Our community like every other community would appreciate being nominated for this important support for posts made in our community. The next paragraphs tell you more about our community.

Fur-friends Community - Whom we are

Fur-friends is the community for pet lovers to come and share their passion for pets. Pets are popular in most parts of the world. So through fur-friends, we are able to bring pet lovers together and share the daily live of our pets with friends. This is probably the only community on Steemit for now that caters to pets. So if you love pets - dogs, cats, bunnies, etc, you are free to join us.

The team is made up of close friends from Nigeria. We are eager to add more pet lovers from other countries. We speak English as first language, plus our native languages. For now, the community does not pay anyone from the community wallet. @ninapenda and @samuel20 are fulltime paid Staff from the SteemAlive community. The Moderators help in making posts and verifying new pet owners. So they have the posting key.

Community Curation

Since this is a new community, we are still building the SP. However, the founder has another community called SteemAlive with a curation trail that votes at $2.57. He uses that account to support posts made in fur-friends too. We are still building the community and we sometimes vote up to 7 posts per week since we dont have too many yet.

Plagiarism & Abuse

We have had a bad run-in with plagiarism in the past. We had to shut down the community as a result and start afresh. @endingplagiarism helped us then, which is why we have added it as a moderator too. Besides, we hav put some systems to help us. for example,we no longer allow random people to publish in our community. All our members are verified first. That involves making sure they understand our strict stand on Plagiarism before they are approved. The moderators also help to check that all photos are original.

Engagement & Commenting

We have a rule as to engagement. @ninapenda, @samuel20, and @focusnow must comment on 3 posts each in the community everyday. That means means 9 comments everyday. We just created a group to track our progress. Other members of the team that wishes to join this engagement tracker are welcome to do so.

Plans & Updates

We will be making update posts weekly. For example, we will update friends on new verified pets, contests and other updates. We have plans to connect with Veterinary clinics around the city and world. They will help us to connect with pet owners from everywhere. We will soon start that.

Promotion

We will be making update posts weekly. For now, we go to radio every Friday in our parent community Steemalive. So we will use one of the days in the month to broadcast specially to Pet owners. Besides, we plan to use referrals and Facebook sponsored ads to create awareness. We want to create a database of 1,000,000 pet owners on the Steem blockchain within the next 2 years. We will do that eagerly

Conclusion

Fur-friends is probably the only community on Steemit for pet lovers. We are unique by every definition of that word. We will appreciate all the support we will get from the Steemit team so as to promote Steemit through pets and their owners.
