Hi! @furfriends community, today I came to shared with you my experience with cats fears:

  1. THE WATER
Above all, perhaps the greatest fear of most cats. People said.. But not for Micka, she doesn't love it, but it got used to it really quickly. Yes, it may not be everyone's and yours doesn't mind you refreshing it. But there are many felines that with just a few drops will run away as if it were fire instead of water. The origin of many breeds from desert areas and their limited contact with water for a long time are usually the reasons for veterinarians to justify this rejection by cats.

  1. Strong odors
Although it is true that the smell of cats is not as sensitive as that of dogs, this does not mean that your nose loses the great variety and intensity of the smells that surround it. That's why they don't like strong odors, in Micka's specific case, smoke, even if it's kitchen smoke. He hides immediately and with a scared face.

I hate fri odors, not Fri food

  1. Hold them tight. I think this is not something exclusive to cats, nobody likes it. Micka is very affectionate, especially at night, she likes to sleep in the corner of the bed with us, but also sometimes, she spends a whole day in a box or behind the refrigerator for no apparent reason. And the reality is that you need your space and independence.

It is a lie that cats are not very affectionate, but for them everything has a dose. So in case you pick up your cat and sense that he's trying to escape with all your might, let him walk away to avoid a scratch or a bite, it happened to me with Mimi and I'm still not over it.

  1. Unknown people: Many cats run to hide when they realize that someone outside the family has arrived. Micka doesn't act like that, but I've seen it in other felines.

Apparently, this is because cats do not handle having to face unfamiliar situations well, and a strange person with a series of smells and sounds that they have never heard makes them uncomfortable.

who says I don't like people?

  1. Loud noises
Cats have highly developed senses and perceive the world differently from humans. One of the things that characterizes them is their keen sense of hearing. For this reason, loud noises annoy and frighten cats, being another of the things they fear the most.

Screams, firecrackers at Christmas, loud music, vacuum cleaners, storms, horns and a long etcetera cause the cat to fear and can even cause stress and anxiety. Check the main symptoms of stress in the cat and act quickly.

  1. Changes in routine
Eat, sleep and play, repeat. Cats love routine. Because of this, changes stress and frighten them. changes of any kind (moves, or things as simple as your litter box, should be done gradually.

  2. Surprises
It is no secret that cats are skittish and cautious animals, which is why they hate being surprised. Videos showing people scaring their cats with cucumbers and other things go viral on the Internet, but the truth is that cats are not afraid of these objects themselves, but of the fact that they have approached them without being able to notice .

  3. Balloons
Why do balloons scare cats? Because in most cases, they mistake them for a menacing predator.

  1. Dogs
Although there are exceptions, this is usually another of the things that cats fear the most, and that is that they tend to feel insecure in the presence of dogs. The reason? Canines are used to barking and chasing after cats when they run into one of them on their way. Micka is not afraid of them, because he has never had direct contact with the outside.

  2. Let them stare at you
No animal likes long-lasting, penetrating gazes, and cats are no exception. With their guardians, they may not show any kind of fear or reaction, however with strangers they may feel threatened when they stare into your eyes. In the face of danger, they may react violently or flee.
If for some reason your cat's gaze and yours meet, the best thing you can do is blink very slowly so that the animal feels safe.
