Different people keep kinds of domestic animals in order to meet their different needs. Pets are one type of domestic animals, and they differ from others because of the specialities that they possess.
People have been able to domesticate a variety of animals that provide numerous functions for us. This domestication includes three types known as:

• Companionship
• Livestock
• Working animals.

Some common different between pets and domestic animals are:

• pets are always household animals.
  

  WHILE

  
  Domestic animals are not always household animals.

• Pet transmission of diseases into humans is common as there is often direct contact, e.g. allergies, and even life threatening diseases like rabies.
  

  WHILE

  
  In domestic animals transmission of diseases to human is not common.

• In pet there is a strong relationship with the owner.
  

  WHILE

  
  In domesti animals the relationship with the owner is not as strong as in pets.

• Pets are kept for companionship and recreation.
  

  WHILE

  
  Domestic animals are kept for economic benefits as well as recreation.

• Examples of pets includes; dog, cats, rodents, spiders, birds and sometimes snakes.
  

  WHILE

  
  Examples of domestic animals include; sheep, cattle, horses, elephant, goat, etc.
