After reading the name of the topic the first question that comes to mind is,

WHAT IS HOLOGRAM?

DEFINITION:

The word Hologram is derived from Greek words holos(whole) and Gramma(message).

Holograms are just like photography.We can say that Hologram technology is the next stage of photography.A hologram is a virtual 3D(there-dimensional) image,created with photographic projection.It can be seen with naked eyes.

INTRODUCTION TO HOLOGRAM:

•In this photographic technique , light scattered from an object, is recorded and it is then projected as a three-dimensional object,which is a free standing image that can be seen without any special viewing device or any other equipment.

•The Hologram just looks like real object,it can be viewed from any angle,if a person moves around ,the object also appears to move and shift realistically.

HOW HOLOGRAMS ARE MADE?

Holograms are made by using laser beam.You can make Hologram of any object by reflecting a laser beam off the object.

•The laser beam is split into two identical beams(object beam & reference beam), by a semi-silvered mirror (half-mirror).

•Half-mirror is a piece of glass which is coated with thin layer of silver so that half of the laser beam reflects and half beam passes through it.

•The object beam bounces off a mirror,hits the object and then scattered on the recording medium.

•The reference beam bounces off another mirror and hits the recording medium without going through the object

•These two beams intersect and interfere with each other at the recording medium,which is photographic plate.

There are many different setups that are used to make holograms,but all those setups follow an equivalent basic idea.

APPLICATIONS OF HOLOGRAM TECHNOLOGY

EDUCATION:

Hologram technology can provide interactive digital teaching in schools.Complex subjects can be taught using holographic image.

For example:
•Students can visualize atomic particles and it's behaviour in science class

•They can explore ruins of ancient places in history class, etc

HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY:

•Current frameworks like MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging ) and CAT scans are translated into digital information and doctors view this data on computer screens, two-dimensionally. Medical Hologram technology will allow an entire 3D visualisation of internal organs of human body.

•This technology can help in surgical pre-planning.

MILITARY:

In military mapping the most important strategy is Geographical intelligence.For this purpose Hologram technology is used,to capture the 3D holographic image of battle field

MARKETING AND DIRECT SALES:

Product Holograms are new marketing strategy that is used to grab the attention of customers.

•This technology can be used for creating live performances in concert ,when subject is not physically present on the stage.

•Stars from the past can be resurrected to perform once again,even accompany modern artists.

•In 2012, Digital Domain Studio , brought Tupac(America rapper and actor) back to life as a 3D Hologram.They created animations for a life-like digital avatar of Tupac,by using an actor and body double.

FUTURE OF HOLOGRAPHIC TECHNOLOGY

The future of holography lies at the intersection of AI(Artificial Intelligence) and voice cloning .It will allow to create digital human models and it will become more and more difficult to tell apart from real ones.

Holograms are emerging into every field of technology so rapidly that in nearer future it will change the way we drive cars,the way doctor examine the patients. More over it will change the way we communicate.
