Hey, @Steemians today I m here with a new Blog in which I will share the recipe for Almond Syrup (Sharbat-e-Badam).
As you guys know it's hot these days. In this season, many refreshing beverages are used in large quantities. So, Almond Syrup is the best option this summer. As well as quenching the thirst, it also provides many health benefits.
Ingredients for Almond Syrup
Procedure
- First of all, take peeled almonds, add little water & blend it to make a smooth paste by using a blender.
- Strain the almond paste with a muslin cloth to separate the almond milk.
- Add remaining water in the leftover almond paste, blend it, and strain.
- Now pour the almond milk into a pan, add sugar and citric acid, and put it on a low flame while stirring it.
- When the sugar dissolves, increase the flame and bring it to a boil and let the syrup cook.
- After this, add the cardamom extract to the syrup.
- Cook the syrup until desired consistency.
- Turn off the flame and add Sodium Benzoate.
- Let the syrup cool down at room temperature and then fill it in the clean and dry bottles.
As food tech can you please tell me why we using Citric acid and sodium benzoate?

Basically, There are 2 main purposes of adding citric acid
And sodium benzoate protects the product from the attack of mould (fungus). If u dont want to preserve it for many months. Then there is no need to add sodium benzoate
