Hello Everyone 😊
This is Faiqa Haider and I hope that you all are good and safe at your places . This is my first post in @SIZofficial about #HapticTechnology.

INTRODUCTION

Haptic is the science or technology of understanding & transmitting information through the touch ,"haptic" is a greek word which means anything related to the sense of touch. It is also known as kinaesthetic communication or 3D touch. This technology can create experiences of touch by applying forces, vibrations or motion to the user. This technology is used to create and control virtual objects in computer simulation and to enhance the remote control of machines.

There are five main types of haptic feedback technologies:

  • force
  • vibrotactile
  • electrotactile
  • ultrasound
  • thermal feedback

History

One of the earliest application of haptic technology was in large aircraft that use servomechanism to operate control surfaces. In 1995, Norwegian Geir Jensen described a wristwatch haptic device with a skin tap mechanism, termed Tap-in. The wristwatch would connect to a mobile phone via Bluetooth, and tapping-frequency patterns would enable the wearer to respond to callers with selected short messages.

IMPLEMENTATION OF HAPTIC TECHNOLOGY

Vibration
Most of the electronics that offers haptic feedback use vibration with a type of eccentric rotating mass (ERM) actuator which consist of an unbalanced weight attached to a motor shaft.
Force feedback
These devices use motors to manipulate the movement of an item held by the user. Its common use is in automobile driving video games.
Air vortex rings
These are donut shaped air pockets which are made up of concentrated gusts of air, focused air vortices have the force to blow out the candle or disturb papers from a few yard away.
Ultrasound
Some focused ultrasound beams are used to create a localized sense of pressure on a finger without touching any physical object.

How does a haptic device work?
The basic working principle of haptic sensor is the generation of an electric current that drives a response to create a vibration

APPLICATIONS

The main benefit of haptic technology for education is that it increases the realism of simulations by providing force or tactile feedback to the user. This technology is also used in automotive, art, aviation, medicine&dentistry, mobile devices, neurorehabilitation, puzzles, personal computers, robotics, sensory substitution, space, video games and in many more. This indicates that haptic technology has vast application and it is almost used in each and every domain of universe.

FUTURE OF HAPTIC TECHNOLOGY

The future generation of haptic technology will simply eliminate the need for physical devices to sense virtual objects and the technology will be termed as "Ultra Haptics".

So,this is what I gather about haptic technology through browsing and I hope so that you like my effort. By time I will try my best to convey more better.
