Good day lovely steemians, how are you today. How is your weekend going ?, as for me , my weekend was really incredible.
It is incredible because I finally started work at an engineering site. Let me tell you a little about my weekend.
I woke up in the morning very happy and excited because I would be resuming work at an engineering site. I had applied to work in the site as an apprentice few weeks back but I wasn't called initially, I had lost hope and forgotten about the job, I thought I wouldn't be called again. I was so excited when I was called on Friday evening to begin work on Saturday.
Since it was my first day at work,I needed to leave a good first impression so I rushed to the site early that morning, I didn't even bother eating. I got to the site at 8:30 am. When I got there work had already started. I was quickly introduced to all the workers and I joined in the work.
I was very confused at first, it was my first time and I didn't know what to do. The building was a 2 storey building and they had already done the ground floor, they were about to start the first floor and so the iron benders were setting the steels to make the beams and columns of the first floor. I was told that that stage in building construction is called the forming stage . You can see the steel rods on the floor and the steel workers.

I made a friend in site , he is one of the iron benders (steel workers), his name is Godsgift. He showed me around and taught me a lot of things.

Here are other pictures I took on site, I just wanted to show you my work place, I will keep you updated as we progress

Below is an area we had finished the steel work, what we did here is called a mat. After this , we would place/ pour concrete on top to form a solid base of the first floor, the steel mat is for rigidity.

This is a picture of how the beams are made, the steels are tied together with a steel wire. We call it binding wire.

To support the top surface were the steel mats is being made and pending when the concrete to be placed on the mat dries and the base is strong enough to support itself. We support the top surface with long vertical woods and bamboos as shown below.

As a new boy in the site , I was made to Stand from morning till evening, I did all the errands and it was really stressful although I was happy because it seemed like a dream come true.
The day was really hectic, I retired home late in the night and I went straight to my bed.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you found this interesting
