Big thanks goes to @siz-official for giving us this great pleasure to educate you guys about my country Ghana 🇬🇭. Ghana is located in the West African part of the African continent and also the first country to gain independence in the year 1957 know for its rich cultural and natural resources such as Gold, Timber, Cocoa and Crude oil.
Ghana Flag
Before the founding father founded the name Ghana it was first know as Gold Coast for the right minerals.
First country to colonize the present day Ghana was the Portuguese in the 14th century and build a fortress at Elimina in 1482. They came to gold coast(Ghana) as missionaries to preach the word of God but later on found out how rich the land was so they later on decided to trade some of their resources in exchange of gold.

They used the fortress to defend other European countries from coming into the country and from trading in Gold Coast until the Dutch broke through into the country driving the Portuguese off and capturing the Elimina castle in the year 1642.
Later on, other countries such as British and the Danes joined the Dutch and also built their fort to protect themself from other countries and pirates from attacking. As at the 16th century their most valuable commodity was not gold but rather salves. The European imported Salves in and out of the country.
Slave Trade
In 1874 a British army attacked the Gold Coast driving off all the other European countries and occupying the Ashanti Empire. Later after the World War 2 events moved fast that the Gold Coast became the first African country to have gained independence in the year 1957.
Things changed immediately after Kwame Nkrumah returned back to Gold Coast after studying in America and Britain in the year 1947. He was invited back and became the general secretary of the Gold Coast convention an organization that campaign for the rights of its citizens. He was later on imprisoned in the year 1950. He was sentenced for about 3 years in prison and was later on released in the year 1952 after winning a by-election naming him as the prime minister of Gold Coast marking it as the first republic. He fought vibrantly to drive off the British colony and succeeded in the 1957 where Gold Coast gained independence and the name was later on changed from Gold Coast to the present day Ghana.
Nkrumah was later on over thrown in a coup d’état when he was away in China in the year 1966 which led him into exile in Guinea.
The coup was led by a group called the National Liberation council led by Lt Joseph Ankrah who later on resigned in the year 1969 for which Afrifa took power and was later on over thrown in the same year. In 1969 Ghana held their second republic election electing Nii Ollennu and Busia as his vice, in about 24 days after the election Edward Akufo-Addo became president from 1970 and was later on over thrown in a military operation in 1972 which was led by two generals Ignatius Acheampong and Frederick Akuffo.

They were also over thrown by a group of young forces led by Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings in the year 1979. In his turn of office he organized an election which brought about Ghana’s 3rd republic for which Hilla Limann was elected as the president in 1979 and was later on over through by Ft Lt JJ Rawlings on a coup d’état in the year 1981 for which he organized election for the fourth time naming Ghana the fourth Republic in the year 1993 and won, after winning the election for which he was allowed to sit in office for four years, he was later on elected again making it 8 years in his turn on office.
John Kufuor was elected in the year 2001 and was later on re-elected again after four year.
John Evans Atta Mills later on became president after winning the election in the year 2009 and died in 2012 naming him as the first Ghanaian president to die in his turn of office. John Mahama became president after the passing of the president in the year 2012 for which he was the vice. He was later on elected as the president in 2012.

Ghana’s education system is if not the best but one of the best(that’s how I feel), the government always tries to find ways and means to improve the educational system to accommodate everyone.
In Ghana, Education starts from the nursery and from there you move to the kindergarten to primary school to junior high school where you will be required to write an entry exams which is the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) into the Senior high school level at this level students are given the chance to choose the type of course they will like to study such as: Science, Agriculture, Home Economics, Business and General Arts after completing the Senior High school level there is another Exams which is the West African Senior secondary certificate Examination (WASSCE) that is required of you in other to be enrolled into either the College, University or the Technical institute of your choice. At this level you get to study your dream course. I am currently in the university studying computer science
